Message: Here are a few old t-v shows that I remember:
The Adventures of Robin Hood, Sargent Preston of the Yukon, The Big Story, The Friday Night Fights, and I Married Joan. Wasn't there also a wrestler who used to lay in the middle of the ring and let people jump from the top of the turn-buckle onto his mid-section; then he'd just get up and walk away - I can't remember his name.....
Just happened to have a picture of Sharon's granddaughter, Kendal. She sent it to me long ago and I'm just now getting around to putting it up here. Sorry Sharon, and thanks for the great shows. I thought Joan Davis was lots funnier than Lucy in the 50's. Do you remember the Gillette Cavalcade of Sports and the Wednesday night fights? I can still sing all the words to the Maverick theme. Don't get me started.

Of course the background is of Crater Lake with fish and wildlife all around, blue skies and green trees with owls. Our old Gov Tom would be proud. I think he was a Duck once.
Petey, all I know is those jerseys look like they've been hangin' on the north side of a tree hugger for a couple a years. The opponents are afraid to get too close; that's why the Ducks are winning.

Your boyfriends' name was Bill. And you had a locket he gave you but you never let anybody know what was inside. The car was a two-door and had something really big on the hood that blocked his view from driving (probably something like the engine or something important like that). I just remember that he drove fast, but you kept telling me not to worry, he was a great driver. Mom was pretty cool, but good thing she didn't know everthing back then. As for the motorcycle, can't say if I ever got a ride on HIS bike.

I used to listen on the radio and it was a different guy. Did the twanger do the same thing on TV? The Packard dealer was Earl C. Anthony. He, was one of the pioneers of radio and early TV, hence the call letters KECA on what are now Kabc AM and KCAL 9. I wonder if anyone can identify the 57 Pontiac Denny Unfried is leaning against.
Norval, That was not a 57 Pontiac, nor was it Denny Unfried. It was Carrot Top Anderson.

No good garbage eatin dogs! Back alley hustlers! PACO, at least your kids don't have their name on the back of their belts (do the sc guys have that?) Here is something for my generation; Can anyone name a short lived television show that featured a car that talked to its owner. You older guys may remember the actress that played the part of the cars voice. The lead human role was played by the brother of the actor who played husband to Mary Tyler Moore on another popular program. Some of the other programs I recall are Gunsomke, The flying Nun, F Troop, Mr. Ed, The courtship of Eddie’s Father, Julia, Dark Shadows, Bonanza, The Real McCoys, December Bride, Pete and Gladys, Laugh In……. ….My friends and I drooled over the new 70 Mustang Mach I at Vel’s Ford (later known as Vel’s Parnelli Jones) on Hawthorne At Torrance. After that we would go to Farrells Ice Cream Parlor and “Make a pig of ourselves”
December Bride was Spring Byington and Frances Rafferty. Frances Rafferty is married to my dad's cousin, Tom Baker. She's just as vivacious as she was 40 odd years ago when she did the show. They live in the Fort Collins CO area and are doing just great.

Message:Tom Burroughs has really stirred up my memory cells. Les (Carrot Top) Anderson was a close family friend and a fixture around our place as my sister was a country singer. Must have a zillion pictures of him and some tapes too. It was my job to drive sis to Cliffie Stones "Town hall Party" on Saturday night. Just talked to sis and she said his show was on channel 7 but he was also on 5, 11, and 13 with Spade Cooley and Cliffie Stone. I must have pictures of just about everyone Tom has brought up including old leather britches.
This is a photo of Juan de Anza school just finishing completion in 1949 taken from our front yard. Sorry I'm cluttering the foreground. Notice 120th street is only about a lane wide with no curbs. This is when most of the houses in Del Aire were built. Trivia: During WW2 there was an army camp on the school site with a battery of Anti-Aircraft guns and a garage balloon. Most of it was underground. We raised chickens so my mother made sure that the soldiers ate good. Also had horses before it built up. I was born here in 1937 so before the war there was just farm land with target practice from the front porch. The school was just built in 1949 and is already wore out and being replaced.
P.S. Sorry, but you must be swamped with trivia such as this but sure is fun recalling the memories.
Hey Denny Thank YOU for sending it......... very interesting indeed. Love the pictures of Hawthorne a half century ago.
