Message: Re: PROM NITE 2001
Hey, we're smiling from ear to ear..
Received lots of email today with lots of "yes, we'll be there" I'll be taking head counts for a while yet..so pass the word. This could be big..could be small..too soon to tell. PROM NITE won't happen til next summer so we're just starting to take head counts. And for those of you that are asking about the music and dress .. I think it's safe to say that some of us will be dancing to music from all decades..not only the 50's & 60's.. When the time comes I'll ask for "requests" I'm planning on turning the lights down low..and having a nice big dance floor and plenty of great songs that have stood the test of time. If you can't dance, the just sway.. it works too. The dress will be whatever you feel comfortable wearing. If you want to dress for a prom, then be my guest.. some of us gals really do want to sew velcro into that merry widow. (you told me so, didn't you) So, let us give you that chance.. (don't go there Joyce)
Now.. be young~~be foolish~~be happy... Who said YOU CAN'T GO BACK AGIAN..

Do you realize that it's been almost 40 years since I got to talk with you? What in the world have you been up to? How about your brother Tim? I hope all is well. I saw Helen Teague at our 30 year reunion and also at the multi-year reunion we had a couple years ago. She looks great!! I'll look in the albums from these events and try to e-mail her address to you. I haven't heard anything about David Moore since the old days; no idea where he went. It's a real treat to hear from you. Hope to see you at the 40th.

Message: I went to the Beach Boys concert in Pasadena on Friday night. Really it was Mike Love, Bruce Johnston and a bunch of other guys. The band just doesn't have the sound without Al Jardine and Carl. I was disappointed also with the sound mixing. I think the sound engineer probably drives one of those lowered Honda Civics I always hear at the traffic signals. The ones whose stereos shake your windows and rattle the change in your ash tray. After I gave him a note that said "WAY TOO MUCH BASS", things got somewhat better, but it was still hard to hear the voices above the instruments. But, I digress.
I left the concert wondering, as I have after every Beach Boys concert I've attended--and I've attended quite a few--WHO WAS RHONDA?
My guess is that she was the babeliscious brunette car hop at the A&W in about the summer of 1963, when I worked there washing mugs.
But maybe we can go to the source. Perhaps one of you Pacific Northwest Cougars can convince Brian to let the cat out of the bag. Or, maybe he can tell all of Southern California at his Hollywood Bowl concert next Sunday. I'll be there. Hoping.
Shipper Sharon and Mom B are going to see him on Friday in Santa Barbara. Ask him Sharon......

She is not doing very well (don't want to go into details) and needs our help. So, PLEASE everyone, say a prayer for her....OK! May the mighty Coug be with you all!

Message: The Oregon State Police have released an all points bulletin for a white male approximately 6’ 4” in white pants and a brightly colored Hawaiian shirt. The suspect is reportedly driving a 38' semi truck said to be loaded with high quality sound equipment. The suspect is wanted for making pet sounds to a waitress in a local strip club. The waitress said that although she got good vibrations from the gentleman he repeatedly ask, can you help me Rhonda, even after being told her name was Barbara Ann. The suspect said he was concerned about being late for the party for 300? (300 What???) He was quoted as saying, I get around, but I think he should have made a left instead of a right when leaving Malibu, he then said softly, god only knows. As he was leaving the pub he flashed his buttock to the patrons who reported the suspect had two tattoos. On his left cheek was a cat and the words “BE A COUG” on the right cheek were the words “BE TRUE TO YOUR SCHOOL.” (strange) He then scurried from the pub singing wouldn’t it be nice, to be back in time for the prom, I’m hoping to take a little surfer girl and I think it’s going to, yes ____, ___, ___. As he sped away he was heard shouting…This stuff’ll kick ass on the stones system…???… If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect, please contact Captain John B. Sloop at 409, Kokomo Drive.
Now God only knows that guy never grew up to be a man. Wouldn't it be nice to be cruising the California coast in a 38 Semi, or better yet, a little deuce coupe, and feeling the warmth of the sun........yep, that would be fun, fun, fun, and lots better than being in my room.

Anybody interested in being on the committee please email myself or HER ROYAL MAJESTY MADAM CHAIR WOMAN Sharon Moore Leach, meetings will be commencing shortly. John has anybody told you what a great site this is? And how much better it could be if we all paid our dues of only $10 per YEAR or 20 cents a week or less than 3 cents per day! Come on folks this is cheap send your money into our cheap friend so we can keep this cheap site going! Love ya John! And one more question is Raymond Smith also known as Leeroy Felderuster?
Sloey the Elder
Actually it's only 19.23 cents a week, but why nitpick. Hey, this site will go on despite the non-members, but it would be nice for everyone to join up. I mean it's not like on PBS where they say, "and for only a 500 dollar pledge, we'll send you a coffee mug and a lucite paper weight with a clamshell in it." This is a "bring me and my lovely date another Margarita" 10 dollar bill, once a year. We all know who you non-members are too.
I don't know, but someone is masquerading as LeeRoy out there..... Is it you Raymond?

Message: Ok.... I have been reading about all the cutie patootie teachers and I HAVE to contribute.... This subject crosses ALL classes...
I just saw mention of John Bree... He was my math teacher and VERY good looking. He was nice enough to wear shorts almost every day too.. :)
Mr. Steve Carnes, who coached football and then later taught at Leuzinger, was one of my favorites. He was adorable and a real funny guy. He is one of the few blondes I had a crush on... There were others I thought were cute but the last one I will mention was Russel Ayers who taught drama at HHS for just 1 year. (maybe being around a bunch of drooling high school girls was too much for a 23 yr old guy) Russ was a great guy and a GREAT drama teacher. He was able to get the best out of all of us.
Actually I think any GREAT teacher (good looking or not) can get the best out of their students. Teachers always make a difference in a class.
Kinda weird to think that I am now at the age (or older) than the teachers I had so big crushes on back when I was sweet 16! I wonder how it felt to be a teacher being ooogled by us.....
RUSS!!??..... You called him Russ? I can remember calling Coach Walker "Don" and I still feel a pain once in a while from all those pushups.

Being in Palm Springs was almost like when I used to go there all the time back in the early 80's. That was the funnest place around. Changed alot since then cause of the riots in 83 or 84. I remember that! Stayed at the Spa Hotel which has changed, it has gambling. Not even close to Vegas though. But at least I won there. By the way, I will be in Hawaii from Oct. 8 to Oct 22. Any of the Cougars that live on Oahu or Maui lets all get together for a mini-reunion. Maybe at Ryans Parkplace or somewhere everyone can get to. Cindy Laird I want to see you.

Message: JB2 (Janet Burkett) Kid, this is really hard.. if we don't accept the prom nite invitations from John and Jan..and hold out for the upperclassmen & the captain of the football team to ask~and they don't~~then we'll be going to the prom together.. (& you always like to lead) OYE VAY.. Ok Janny, I'll accept. Hey, this wasn't easy in high school and it's still not easy. Now the hard part is making sure we don't "break up" before the dance.. (see, it's still a hassle) besides, it takes all day to get that dental floss off the ring before you give it back anyway. Lori Padelford~Janny and I were just talking about a disc jockey vs: a band.. DISC JOCKEY WON!.. This way we can touch on all the old songs from all the years..50's - 60's - 70's - 80's - 90's & hear them just the way they sounded back then, but I "won't breakdance" that's where I draw the line. Now, I have to find a shoe store that will still dye my pointed white satin heels lavender.. and where can you find opera length gloves.. and god knows my petty slips need to go back on the line with another coat of starch. I still have to make sure that I'm not taller than Janny with my heels on.. Oye..this ain't gonna be easy.. Judy Wudy Chicken Bootie

Message: JohnB, sorry to have misled anyone about Donna and I, but I never said we got married. But thanks to everyone for all the congradulations. Jack R. I also heard a story involving Brian W. He had Mr Morgan for Music Theory. He wrote a sonata that gained him another "F". Just a short year later Jan and Dean sang the same song, and it was a million seller. (SURF CITY). Go figure!
Now I know Dr. Fred failed him in music, but I've heard about 20 different reasons why. This is turning into "The Legend of Brian W". I don't think Surf City was Brian's song however, and Brian would've been given the said "F" in his senior year of 59/60 and Surf City wasn't a hit until 63.
In Dr Morgan's defense, and Brian would probably back me up on this one, at that time in his young music life, he deserved the "F". Thanks Wayne and when are you getting married??

Hi Diana, Yes, Prom Night details will be worked out in the next few weeks. We need to know how many people are planning on coming so we know what size venue we need.
