Hey John....the grapes they made that Cabernet must of come from Washington, that winery, Sokol Blosser, is 3 miles down the street from me....my favorite one! Yeah, you and Janet save it for the right time...that's why I sent it, big Guy! And yeah, that cheesecake...once you make it and take a bite, you really should have people around to share it with and eat the whole thing, otherwise....you end up eating damn near, if not, the whole thing, it's so good, rich but good! = )
So, your mom is from Missouri too, huh? My mom and her family is, too. Lebanon, Missouri by the Ozarks. Terrie Kostiszak's mom is from Missouri, too, but I think her mom's family is from the St.Louis area. And, my last roommate and now good friend is from Missouri. I tell ya, the older I get, the more and more people from Missouri I meet or else their folks are from there. The good old "Show Me State!" Full of good people!
And, speaking of drive-in movie theaters and old cars....here in Newberg, we have one of the last drive-in theatres, I think, on the west coast. Our own Mike Hinsch, class of 1977 and host of the Pacific Northwest Reunion on the 16th, just went to that drive-in a week or so ago with his Edsel owner's club for a function. I would of gone, but couldn't find a sitter for my daughter. She's way too young to stay out that late! Maybe next summer, we should plan on having an HHS reunion and car show there! Now that would be a total blast, wouldn't it?
Sorry Anita, I meant to say Oregon. Thanks again........

Message: Anita, my recipe comes from my jewish mother-in-law (she passed away before I met the hubs). After much arm twisting, my sis-in-law doled it over. The hubs likes to have his own with a fork. He quarters it and it lasts maybe two evenings. How the dude doesn't hurl, I'll never know. Usually you have to slice it real thin. People who have never had it always think you are being stingy with it until they can barely finish the slice. We finally got an inkling of fall in the air so my baking bug is starting to buzz. Is anyone else out there? I just polished my nails and I can't go to bed until they dry (or I'll get sheet marks in the paint). A really cool color called "I'm not really a waitress" red. Sort of the candy apple you guys painted your cars. As for 80's guys, the ones I hung out with (you know who you are) were pretty stoned most of the time (excluding Ray Smith...I wouldn't want to give him a bad rep, now would I?). We just considered the source. Besides, it gave us more time to "shop the sand". I better check the alumni list again to make sure who's on it and who's not.
Not to mention Racing Stripes on the sheets.....

Message: Brother Bob, I see that John is correct about the old farmhouse. Yes that was the Leuzinger Farm. I remember Mr. Leuzinger kept his 1951 light blue gray Chevy convertible in the barn. Now with that answered, does anyone know what special equipment was installed on that Chevy convertible? Here's one. What was the name of the restaurant on Inglewood Ave and 135th Street?
Hello Connie Brower. I not sure if it is because the seasons are changing or because the Holidays will arrive soon, but over the week end I had a vision of when I lived on 121 Street. Seeing your name on the feedback page brought it back again. Guess what I saw. I saw this big picture window with a wonderful Christmas mural painted on it. Yes, I remember those Christmas pictures your mother Irma painted. Wow, that was some time before Junior High when I lived on 121Street. Do you keep up the tradition?
Mike Riley asks who was Spider? Well only one person comes to mind. That is Mr. Fredrick T. Morgan, better known as Spider Morgan.
Also, a big hello to my little Sister. Hello Kathy! Kathy, I will say something. Something! Kathy, did you see that good picture of Bob? I think he looks better now that he parts his hair the same way that I do. What do you think?

Message: Hello Connie Brower, a name from the past. You may not remember me (I am 10 years younger and I remember you) but you should remember my brother Bill Jensen "63". We lived next to Linda Ann Meleziva. You, if I remember correctly, lived between the Collette's and the Waterson's. My brother Bill and I were just thinking of the people who lived on that street and your family was one of the names that came up. We both remember your mother painting pictures in the living room during the Christmas season. Is that correct? When I finish here I am going to call mother and tell her we saw your posting on the Cougartown site. Mother often speaks of your mother, Erma, and the others that all moved on that street at the same time. How is your brother Eddy, and the rest of your family. Hope to see you on Cougartown in the near future.
Bobby Jensen
To John: I saw your note posted to the bottom of my sisters message. Please do not encourage the Jensen kids, we could become WEB HOGS. Yes, John, that was the Leuzinger Farm but I think I will wait awhile before I tell you what was in the barn. Someone else is bound to remember.
Hey thanks Bob, and you and the rest of the Jensens use the site all you want. That's what it's here for.

Gina...wow! The guys in the 80's were brutal alright! Our guys, in the mid to late 70's were so cool about us being in the water....who do you think gave me and Margaret their boards to try and surf on? And they were all too happy to lend us their websuits to body surf with. Too bad the 80's guys couldn't appreciate you guys more. Bummer!
And, yeah, I love to make cheesecakes, too. I gave our own king John here my recipe for a killer regular double baked one and even told him how to make it a "Death By Chocolate" one. The recipe I use is from my ex's mom, who got it from her grandmother. Supposedly, it's an old German recipe going back to Germany itself a very long time ago and it has won awards. The funny thing is though, it is so simple to make and has no hard to get or bizarre ingredients in it. Bake on, woman, bake on!
Hi Anita, Haven't made the cheesecake yet. Waiting until I lose a few pounds. I do want to thank you for the bottle of Washington state Cabernet. Haven't opened it yet, but I will when the time and food is right. That was very generous...thank you.

Message: Drive-In-Movies and Old Cars! Does life get any better? Yes Brother Bob, I think we should dust off the old convertibles and cruise out to Saturday's Classic Car Event. Say, do you think we can sneak as many of our friends into the Drive-In as we did during our school days? Your white convertible does have a large trunk. How many do you think we can get in? Well maybe I shouldn't ask. Remember back in the school days when we were small and the cars were so big? Now the cars are so small and we aren't! Well, the times have changed or is it that the Times have changed things? Life is still great. Does anyone know the name of the girl at Hawthorne that had the T-Bird during the sixties? Did her Daddy ever take the car away? Does she still have that T-Bird? If so, maybe she can drive it out to Saturday's event.

She looked it up in the phone book and found a NARRABEEN in New South Wales. I did some net surfing and found an Australian site listing their most popular surfing sites. www.surfline.com/videonar.htm. - North Naarabeen is ranked 9th most popular, South Naarabeen is 144th. I presume this is the place everyone has been looking for just the wrong spelling?

Let's block out time on our daytimer's to put up the trees and deck the halls!! It's almost magik time!
To Anita, yes, when I was a beach babe (OOOH, so many years ago), the guys made it clear that we girls were NOT welcome in the surf. If a girl did get into the water on a board, she wasn't treated too well. They got downright mean!! How times change. They were probably afraid we "chicks" would show them up. I'm always glad to see a girl surfing, though. It means she "broke through". Yes, I'm still a feminist, and will always be.

Message: Flat-tops arrived in my life sometime in my sophomore or Jr. year. As a freshman, had I had a flat top I would have been doing a bad impression of Mr. Fats Domino.... There's a very old story JB about the filming of the great chariot race in Ben Hur. Twenty camera's had been staged to capture this magnificent spectacle. One lonely fellow and his camera had been placed at the hightest elevation and farthest location on the set to capture the race. The fellow was having problems with his communication system (in those days, two tin cans and string) and this was complicated further by problems with the film can. The director yelled action, and the race was on. Just as the race ended, and Mr. C.B. DeMille yelled cut, a faint voice was heard from the hinderlands... "Ready when you are C.B." That's who C.B. was. Enjoy the holiday. And please.... everyone keep the greasy side down when driving. RCG, Frank
Oh THAT C.B........ Thanks for clearing that one up and a very funny story too. You have a great one too Frank, and stay away from the "Hard Ways".

Message: For anyone who is interested in DRIVE-IN-MOVIES. I just found out about an event on Sept. 09, 2000. A classic car club has rented the Azusa Drive In for an old car get-to-gether. You don't have to drive an old car to get in. Gates open at 6:00 for tailgate dinners and viewing of the cars. Movie starts at sundown. The theater is just north of the 210 exit Hwy 39 (Azusa Ave) to Foothill and go east. I believe that this Drive In has been sold to a neighboring college and will soon be out of business. I think it is the last in Los Angeles County. Remember: This "magic moment" may soon be as much a memory as 15 cent burgers at McDonalds! Brother Bill, wanta get the convertibles out and go?

Liz, you mentioned the little store on Ramona @ 134th. I remember it, and because I remember it I am now feeling old. Does anyone remember Anna Marie's Gift and Hobby on 137th and Inglewood Ave. Wriggley's Market on Aviation @ 119th. Does anyone remember the name of the dime store across from Wriggley's?
Does anyone remember the old farmhouse on the north side of El Segundo Blvd. between Isis and Aviation and does anyone remember who lived in it and what type of automobile sat in the barn?
Intermediate Vs Dana VS Trinity. The three of us went to 3 different Jr. high schools and all ended up at HHS. After comparing notes we all agree we each had great experiences at our respective junior high schools. Did any great sports figures come from Trinity?
I would like to say "HI" to the following people; Roland Poltash, I hope Chicago is great for you. Hello Bryan Larsen, see you in the South. Hello Larry Hoffer way up north. Hello Anita McCullom, where are you? And to my little sister Kathy, how was your 20th reunion last weekend. Did you enjoy your stay at the beach house?
Hey thanks Bob for the family support. I'll be hanging stars next week.
Great questions too. I think the Farmhouse was the Leuzinger farm, but I don't know what was in the barn. I think Anna Marias is still there. At least the building is.
