Also, I read that Patty Valencia was looking for me; well here I am. Patty; have you heard from Steve or Tom Deuel? Finally, and most importantly, thank YOU for taking the time and effort in creating this way cool site. I really enjoy it!

Hi Lily, Yes you can contact Melanie Chacon at (310) 643-5743. I think they're about sold out on the seats so please call her today. She will let you know all the particulars.

Or I might order some T-shirts from Keith with my pic and a "Are you this guys relative?" underneath..Its a start...I hope this answers a few questions and has no bearing on my Royal Court status..Prince Robin..
PS Denny: A blower UNDER any carbs is a quick way to pitch rods to the next zip code..poor Olds :o)...

Message: I look in everyday but not to much to say. But noticed Kelly Cardin. He was related to Rick Cardin I think who played for the Pittsburgh Pirates or Giants. I think they were bro's. I knew him slightly. Also, noticed the beautiful Barbara Duran whom I (and many others) drooled over at her dads gym. Only thing happening is that I just invested in a pretty large screenprinting company here in Vegas. Took over all the accounts which equaled over 10,000 dozen shirts a month so will be pretty busy. Anybody need t-shirts out there gets the Cougar discount.

Message: Denny (o), thanks for the "get back" on the "Ricks Olds" thing. Thats quite interesting about Rick blowing up that "Olds", he had the fastest car for over 6 mths or more at the "Hamburger Handout", until some guy came in with a 32 ford coupe and challenged him to race his "hottie". Rick had no license to drive (tickets) so he had someone drive for him (back on the old hwy) and the guy lost both of the first two races to this coupe and Rick, thinking that his bud wasn't driving his machine right, then decided to drive for himself (ego at its best). This story should be that he gets caught by the cops and go's to jail and or that he wins the race, but it was worse than that, he also lost, to this little deuce coupe. The guy never slowed down, turned around or anything, after that third race, He just blew off into the night. To this day, we (Bruce and I) and or any of the other people, ever heard of what was under the "hood"! Maybe you know that mystery Man? Thanks Denny. EL ROJO. MAY THE COUGAR BE WITH YOU!
I'm sure it wasn't a ported and relieved and stroked and bored flathead mill.V6, I bet you thought the name of that song was "Little Dew Scoop" huh........

I'm gonna contact as many 72ers that I can, and I'm a single mom working two jobs, but I'm gonna try and give a donation for Nyman Hall. I was married for 20 years and we're separated (my choice). I've been seeing the same man for three years, whose last name happens to be King and wants mine to be too; cold feet - warm heart. Write soon! God bless. Also - HI TO BARBARA DURAN in El Segundo - say hi to anyone I know from good old HHS. John - thanks for putting me back in 72 - and thanks again for this great Cougartown.

Message: EL ROJO, Terry Johnson dreamed up the name Satin's Cherubs car club. That name scared some people but the club was good intentioned. We gave courtesy cards to people who we stopped to help. Also had someone from NHRA as a guest speaker and started building a "Rail Job" as they were called in 1954. The club was entirely "55" Seniors and when we graduated everyone went in different directions. As for Rick Granville's Olds, it died a violent death at Lions drag strip starting line after Rick put a blower under all of those carburetors.
As you probably know, Bruce Johnson was HPD for a few years. Ron Mix was at the "First Decade Reunion" and mentioned with regrets that Bruce had passed away in the early 90's.

Hey Denny, More great stories about early Hawthorne. Thanks....
Bruce Johnson, regrettably, took his own life.

Ingrid, I have two of your books scanned. The other two aren't yet. I keep saying after the move, I'll get this all done. Well after the move is when the scanning starts. With the holidays and all I'll be in the other place in about a month, so be patient and we'll get this done. That goes for all the other El Molinos I have borrowed too. Message: Hey John, I think the crossing guard you are refering to , was probably for the kids going to Washington St. School. Which was located behind Haw. Inter. Or next to it. We crossed Hawthorne Blvd. Either from the signal by Food Giant, or the Boston Store. How many of you gals did your back to school shopping at Leonards?. It was just a little shop on Haw. Blvd. And thank-you for the feedback on surfing. My brother, Chuck, bought a balsa board from either Norm Steiner or Paul Stinel (thats probably spelled wrong) Butch you would know. I went to a legends longboard championship in O'side in '97 it was great. I haven't heard so many familiar names from the past. Not even on this web site. My vote would be for either Bobby Hawthorne or Bob Gomen. Wonder where they are now? When I was going to Haw. Intermediate , Carolyn Peterson and I would go to 26th. Thats when I first saw Bill Brown, Mike Weathers and of course Robin, and the other guys that surfed 26th or 33rd. Like Chet Glenn. Hey Butch who did Weathers tinkle on from the Lifeguard tower, or was that you who did the tinkling?
Who are you?

What I was attempting to do was express my shock and amazement that a women would admit to being wrong in a public forum. In my experiences in life, I've never been so blessed. Some how, it always turns out to be my error around here. If Maria would make the statement about being wrong, I begin to look for writing instruments to record and document the transaction for future reference. However I know that by the time I get that done, it would no doubt turn out to be me stepping into it once again... Yo Robin... Oyster's will help, as if you want a high score!

Message: Alan Hauge, Ed Greevy: Do you guys have any photos of the old hot rods around from those days? Maybe we could get John Baker to post them if we had enough of them or maybe they are on here somewhere but I have missed them? Now, if you had the original rod, it would be worth some real money these days. People are restoring these back to original and collecting them. As someone said, the ownership can be traced back through DMV as well. Alan: Boys Market was sold to Ralphs or someone years ago. There was a checkers or wholesale grocers union of some kind that Jerry Parker and others belonged to. He should be able to be traced back through that union or they can forward a message to him, I don't know what it was called but it is probably on the net somewhere. I do have an old # for Ron Easton but I don't know if he knows where Jerry is either.

Message: WINE COUNTRY WEEKEND
Hello to everyone. It's time to start planning the wine country weekend. Tentative dates are April 14, 15, and 16, the weekend preceding Easter. Winery tours and tasting, a picnic, possibly a winemaker's dinner are in the works.
Help us plan by answering a quick questionnaire:
Are you,
(1) relatively certain you will
(2) possibly may
(3) would like to, but aren't quite certain at this time, you'll be there?
How many of your family and friends are coming with you?
What type of lodging might you need, RV or camper parking, motel, hotel, B&B?
Are you planning to arrive earlier to, or stay longer in the area after the wine country weekend?
How are you planning to arrive? As far as transportation would your group be interested in a charter bus or train trip?
Please e-mail
Janet Humphreys Burkett jburkett@compaq.net or
Glenn Crist gfcrist@pop.sonic.net
with the answer to these questions.
You may also mail them to:
Glenn Crist
835 Austin Street
Sonoma, CA 95476
Thanks and we'll post further details on Cougartown

OK Folks, here we go. I will set up an RSVP questionnaire. You can answer it and we'll get the ball rolling on this one. This is going to be a great weekend and will allow our Northern Cougs to get involved, so please let Janet or Glenn know soon. Thanks to all, and we'll see you in the wine country.

Message: To: Larry Cuiper.
I was a good friend of Jerry Parker ('60) and his brother Dennis ('61). He was the manager of Boy's Market in Hawthorne and I heard he went to a Boy's Market in Orange County. That was years ago but he was planning on staying with Boy's. Recently I searched for both of the brothers and couldn't get a real lead on either with the exception of Social Security on the Internet. Hopefully the Dennis Parker listed on the Social Security Death file isn't the same Dennis who passed away five years ago at age 50.
If anyone else has a lead I would appreciate it. Jerry also ran around with Lloyd Conder from 116th street (he drove a black 1956 Ford F-100 pick up). I did a lot of cruzing in that one. Jerry Parker was also close to Barry Justice who lived on 120th. Barry had the white lowered 1955 Olds with a candy apple burgandy dash board. What a trip down memory lane.
Anybody got a lead???
Alan
