Message: When my older son was a toddler (way back when), we had some friends over and we were drinking some kind of Schnapps (maybe ginger?) that looked like apple juice when in a glass. My son toddled over and before anyone realized what he was doing, he grabbed a glass from the coffee table and took a BIG mouthfull which was then sprayed out just as quickly on all who were seated near him. We feel that this experience coupled with the champagne hang-over from my sister's wedding in 1969 made him a confirmed beer drinker.
Chris, regarding the scholarship thing. A couple of years ago I was involved with a library group that was interested in setting up a fund for scholarships and the like. They had a professional come in and speak on funds of this type. It seemed to me that the best way to do a scholarship fund was to set up an investment of some sort with the initial donations. The profits from the investment are what is then used to fund the scholarships without touching the principal. The more money in the fund, the higher the profits, and the more money available for scholarships. Cougars could be encouraged to donate to the scholarship fund and possibly get matching funds donated by their employers. Additionally, endowments can be made to the scholarship fund from various grant programs and Cougars can include the scholarship fund in their wills.
I would be willing to help with the scholarship fund, but being located in wonderful Wisconsin, I am kind of remote from the center of activity. I could assist in drafting letters to help raise funds, etc, though.
There you go Chris. Thanks Sharon....

Message: Hi Cougars!
We are looking into the scholarship for an average student and have email going back and forth between several cougars and myself. One major step in providing a scholarship is the money. John has purchased the T-shirts with the idea that the profit he receives from them will go into the fund. The big step now is to get more of the cougars to purchase the shirts. My personal goal is to have a $1000 for the first Cougartown scholarship. Some people have said that they would like to provide even more money. Those of you who have said that you would like a Cougartown T-shirt now is the time to flood John with your requests. When you wear the shirt be ready for people to walk up to you and ask, "What is Cougartown?" Don't be surprised if one or more are cougars. Please see the Cougartown store for the T-shirt order form.
Thanks Chris, Yes we're taking half the profits from the T shirts and are going to provide the first Cougartown Scholarship. Chris is heading up the project. If you have any suggestions, please let him know, and yes, we would appreciate the procurement of a T shirt or two. It will go to maintaining the site, adding to our get togethers, and for said Scholarship fund. Thanks Cougs......

Message: Becky Smeltzer - how neat to hear from you. I'll send you an e-mail. One of my favorite memories of you is when you learned how to play "Alley Cat". You made the piano hop. Do you still play? I hope so!
I'd say us "Rowdy's" have been a little layed back (especially Judy, since she lost her frontal ballast) and we can always use someone else willing to be a "Rowdy"! Of course, with the title comes some responsibility. It is the duty of every "Rowdy" to be willing and able to harrass anyone at anytime for anything!! (And...... this is the big thing, you must be able to "take" it too!)
Cougartown is a club for us all. Everyone that checks in is a member. Us "Royals" are no better than anyone else. You get the title by saying or doing something innocent and then you are inflicted by decree of someone somewhere. Also, you can lose your title by decree by doing nothing to no one at any time. (Just ask me, I've had it happen). I think my title of Royal Flogger has gone by the wayside, but, I will keep it in the files just in case it is needed in the future.
Myrna, No, You're still Royal Flogger, but Mom B has taken Royal Baker away at the Homecoming Picnic. If you do well, you'll have the title, Royal Stained Glass Window Maker next.
I think Rowdy Judy, who has Internet access at work, has had her wings clipped by her boss. She's still out there, but doesn't quite have as much "Rowdy Power".
