Message: Good afternoon, JB, or should the address be King JB? Whatever! Did Jim Sloey answer you about Sally? I was going to suggest it may have been the Sally as in Bobby Darin's "Sally was a good ole girl" Great old number... Patty girl, you're great. You didn't consider that folks were kicking fellow coug's. About the reading glasses and gray fur on "THE COUGAR" Oh please don't... He's really kinda like "Peter Pan" don't ya know.
I agree Frank. Don't mess with the Coug.
About the Sally thing. The only Sally that I truly had a Giant Crush on, was in Kindergarten, York School. Sally Fraser. Actually I think that was the first girl, I shared my "Nap Rug" with. Course it was a whirlwind affair, and I think I let her down easy about 2 weeks into that school year. She was getting a little too possessive if you know what I mean. Well, actually stingy is a better word. Wouldn't share her graham crackers and milk with me.

Since Marla Allen edited the yearbook that year and contributed so much to our memories of it I think SHE needs to join and since George Hunter and is so much a part of ALL our memories for a variety of reasons ; ) he should pay the toll as well.....I certainly feel we made our mark while there but this is a great opportunity....Since Dewey S. contributed so much toward the Phantom seat, perhaps Tim Long and "friends" would want to offer up for this one....C'mon Barry Smith, your wife still works there!!

Message: Thank you Sue nee Bierman for coming to my defense. Perhaps for the first time I have benefitted from the inspiring effect of HHS cheerleading. (Which brings to mind: why the heck didn't Pep Squad get over to the tennis courts more often anyway, instead of constantly lurking about the baseball diamond in the spring? Only for this slighting alone do I remain to a degree regretful about my youth).
For the most part, what I write at this site (and in general) is input after tee many martoonis at Engine Co. 28 or some other such wellworn downtown ginjoint. In truth the style, though alcohol-addled, and perhaps also corrupted by the influence of shoehorning a liberal arts degree into a mere decade's time, comes quite naturally and without affectation. I try to include no words that are not routinely found in Elle or Bazaar, or, pushing the envelope to the extreme, Vanity Fair. I am surprised and embarrassed that my prose style has drawn any attention at all beyond its content. V5 insisting that "saying things simply is harder work" makes me feel like a complete layabout. It obliges me to remove myself to my hammock for the balance of the afternoon, and re-consult my Strunk and White.
Thanks joseph, I was thinkin' maybe next time, includin' some words from Hot Rod or Motor Trend. Whattayasay.....Always a pleasure joseph.......

Tuesday night cruise is a reunion of sorts for the young and old and I think it would be pretty bitchin' if the location was moved to Hawthorne Blvd, in the parking islands between the east and west side of the Blvd. just an idea, any how this page is BOSS !!.

Message: Royal, I am wondering whether or not you have retired or perhaps working in another District. I am starting my 32nd year teaching and 19th at Mayfair High School. Since you live in Cerritos you are probably living in close proximity to where I teach. (Lakewood) I got my Masters in Counseling just in case I got tired of teaching...but now I have the Animation Academy at Mayfair and I love it. Teaching is so great. I guess I'm not ready to retire yet. Administration is a different role though, so I thought that perhaps you might have retired. This is funny, you were so popular and such a nice guy that we all thought we knew you but chances are you don't even know who I am. I think we shared a few classes. I was fairly shy in those days. Teaching snapped me out of that mode.
By the way Johnny Baby, I think that I am talking Mom "V" into coming to Homecoming. I think she'll get a kick out of it 'cuz you really made an impression on her and me too. And Robin Hood...I am really looking forward to meeting you. Maybe momzy will introduce us. Oh yeah, just got my little '65 bug repainted. I haven't seen it for 2 weeks. One of my former students is doing it. It's getting reupholstered, new paneling, carpeting. It's so coooool. I'll probably be afraid to drive it.
If anyone knows anywhere I can get a new steering wheel purchased and installed, I'd be very grateful. I live in Fullerton. Thanks.
Hi Diane, Loretta, Sharon, Jorge, Alan, Frank and everyone else that I met on Cruise night. I still think about it often. I love this blast from the past. Old expression.."warm fuzzies."

Message: To Schroeder Da younger('66) Correction on the 1959 Championship game. Brian Wilson was a backup QB. Willie Brown didn't run back the opening kickoff. There was no score at the end of the first quarter, LB Poly scored to open the second quarter after a long drive. They kicked off and that was when Jim Reale returned it for a touchdown. (88 yards), (score 7-6) Then Willie Martin returned our kickoff for a touchdown. (not Willie Brown),(score 14-6) We were able to contain Willie Brown that night, But could not stop Alonzo Irving their fullback. Willie Martin was a wide receiver or flanker. That was the score at halftime. They just wore us down the second half. You have to remember their school had 3500 students in three grades while HHS had 1900 students in four grades. Both teams were 11-0 going into that championship game. Spoken as an eye witness on the playing field.
R. Lord
Yeah, I was there too Royal, and from my vantage point, we were outnumbered like Custer.

I do remember standing outside at the walkup window and getting a chunk of cheddar cheese and 13 red licorices....for 25 cents.... and that was lunch! I wasn't much into nutrition either. ") I did frequent the taco bell though, tostada w/xtra cheese and ice tea...47 cents. Then there was always the dairy on the corner until friend Laura Stewart got a grape drink with a bug in the bottom of it....eeewww yuk! never 'Jack' though, it was gross back then, it might still be, I still never eat there! oh!, and those vending machines outside of the girls gym, chocolate chip brownies, everyday. I remember those 25 cent hamburgers at the snack window. Barely nutritious, but what 16 year old is looking for nutrition.
