Speaking of the backwards dance, I have a wonderful picture of the four of us in my livingroom, you boys in your sport coats with the home made corsages, Steve's was so big it almost pulled him over. Then there was Becky and I in our dresses thinking we were so cute with our helmet hair. Yes I would say those were the days.
Today I received a really nice picture from Howard Duran of him and my sister Donna Hare when they were in the 8th grade on a field trip at the observatory, they looked like they just stepped out of the movie Grease, he the bad boy, she the good girl. Hi Kathleen, YES thank you for your donation. I knew the class of 74 would jump right in there. I do know of a couple more 74ers that should be donating, but I'll just wait and see if they'll volunteer on their own.
Now, about the picnic. Susan Walling is handling it, and I'm not sure what the food situations going to be. It's changed a couple of times already. I'll post the particulars on the Homecoming/Picnic Weekend in plenty of time (probably the end of next week). The sign up is going great. I went by HHS this afternoon to tell LeeRoy to save a few more seats as this is going to be a big one. I think the alumni might outnumber the student body. Hey Sloey - there are hills between us and the Ranch. Luckily for us - that way the winds don't get to us here in Coalinga. I haven't eaten out there for about 2-1/2 years - was it pretty good? You know how it is when it's available, just doesn't matter as much. Besides, then we have to drive 14 minutes.........

Message: Ah, remembering the daze when I too sat as muted statuary on the benches in front of Fosters. It was the nerve center of HHS social life. Spent too much time back there (*in the parking lot) trying to scale Red Mountain. ($1.50 a gallon). Curtis used the phone out front as his home phone number. I was fortunate enough to see where Curtis lived and experience the world he lived in. He was strange before it was popular. The Manyard G Krebs of Hawthorne. We exchanged letters while I was in the Army. He'd write a cryptic message on a road map and send it postage due to Fort Gordon (where Chuck Currie was stationed also).
Chuck -- how many guys can claim Becky Lou as their first love? Count me in. Is she on this network? I'd love to exchange pleasantries with her. Also see Karen Hare's name on here. She's an angel -- as I recall. We doubled to the backward dance with her and one Mr. Stevenson ( whom I saw this weekend along with Fish, Blackburn and Mazzotta)
;But I (continually) digress.
Those who keep the tradition alive -- right on!
Only wish I could of been there (Cruise Night?)
to slurp a cherry coke -- on the benchs -- with the guys. Louie, Wezal, Arnold, and way too many others to mention (or remember).

For those of you too young or older than us, Kathy's brother, Tim Thomas was an all CIF defensive back, 1964, c/o 1965, and one of the best athletes I ever met but he was a better person than he was an athlete. He was a guy you would go out of your way to try to be his friend. Tim, Bill Tambourino and I worked on the parks in the summer of 1966 through the winter of 1967. I was very good friends with Tambo as he was known, but Tim and I were probably just acquaintances until that summer. During the summer the three of us and Margaret, TAMBO's girlfriend and now wife of probably 30 years, did almost everything together. We went to countless Dodger games, we would walk into the bleachers for free because every night was little league night and they didn't care, we spent the night at Dodger stadium waiting for the 1966 World Series tickets to go on sale, we got them, and we went to the first game even after Tim's dad gave his version of Dodger stadium, [that night waiting for tickets will go down as one of the most fun nights in my life], we played basketball and softball together on park teams, sports that Tim never played in high school but sports he soon excelled at, and the time Timmy wouldn't let Tambo leave me at Dodger stadium handcuffed to Tambo's corvair. As he said to Tambo we have had enough fun with this. The times we spent in his new Mustang, and he would always threaten us if we spilled anything on his new car, and he would always end the threat with a laugh, and we never spilled anything, not because Timmy scared us because we respected him so much. And a 1000 other things that Timmy did that exemplified what a great person Tim was and what a great friend. He was quiet but not afraid, kind but not weak, strong but not boastful. For that period of my life, my two best friends were Tambo and Tim Thomas but I am sure there are a lot of guys from that time frame will say the same thing about Timmy. He made us all feel special. I was so very fortunate to have gotten to know Timmy, even JIM SLOEY
