Message: Crotty we don't care who likes it or not. It is one of the greatest steps to be recognized in NCAA history. The great thing about it, we're all proud of it ( jeez that should become a cheer song) and myself and our kids actually have a little of the turf. Maybe E-Bay...Craigs List ...a couple years down the road, for retirement. But it's a great venue and improving each year. You've got to admit it's a pretty picture when they take that shot of the stadium and the mountains behind it and people take notice. Beautiful state, growing program. Not with the top echelon of college football, but knocking at the door. MAY THE COUGAR BE WITH YOU! Jake N Jude

Message: Here's a good topic; "Do we need another empty storefront on Hawthorne Boulevard?" Faced with complaints that music and dancing at a Turkish restaurant in Hawthorne would debase the community, the City Council denied an entertainment permit the owner requested to attract new customers. What is the City Council up too? Good thing this good old boy's wern't around my house on Friday's and Saturday's night's in the late 60's and early 70's. Their were hundreds teenagers, loud music and a lot of drinking going on and my neighbors nevered complained. I guess they would of kick my family and me out of Hawhtorne. Oh! They couldn't, I lived in the L. A. County part of Hawthorne, patroled by the LENNOX Sheriffs and they were way cool and groovy.

Message: I was in Hawthorne today having the Hydramatic transmission overhauled on one of my old cars and had the overwhelming urge for a Dreemburger Delux. Yes, the spelling is correct. The only other menu that I have seen Dreemburger on is the one at Pann's on La Tijera Blvd. Anyone remember where we got our Dreemburgers?
I think I remember. They just turned an old "one of THOSE places" into a 50s style restaurant on Seal Beach Bl.

Message: Hello John-I think I know why nobody is writing in right now. They've been listening to the dismal stock market reports, and are calling their brokers to see just how broke they really are. I think we need a new, fun topic to take our minds off our troubles.Let's see, we've covered first concerts, favorite teachers, sports, etc. How 'bout graduation escapades? Now I know there have to be a bunch of stories out there. . . Betty Rodriguez
Hey Betty, Maybe you're right and it sure is a coincidence that you'd bring up graduation stories just when Steve Temoshek sends me this picture of the HHS 69 graduation on Halcap field. Betty, I think I see you on the left, near the middle of the picture Thanks for the graduation story idea, and Steve, thanks for the grad picture.

Message: John, thank you for the breakfast reminder. I forgot to put it on my calendar and have misplaced the letter. Go Cougars. Oh, by the way. We were cleaning out the garage the other day and I found a KFWB Bomp Doll that I got at the 1966 Teen fair at the Palladium, which by the way, they just remodeled and reopened, I think last night.
Ahhhh The Palladium Party..... Wall to wall wasted under-aged women from at least 3 different schools. A high school boy's dream come true.
Bomp Dolls are Here Thanks Sharon for a great memory flogger.

Message: I've been to Classmates.com. Classmates.com is a nice site but Classmates.com is no Cougartown! I think a lot of us are just laying low right now. However, I did run into Don Collins (class of 76) the other day. He tells me he checks out Cougartown regularly and is glad to see the participation of the Cougartown alumni. We all are. Hope all is well with everyone.
Thanks Cliff, It's just a slow period right now. It'll pick up when we get a hot topic.

Message: I am class of 1963. I begged my way into a very special event this week end thanks to Joe Contestabile. The HHS Football Team of 1953, the first to win a league banner of any kind is having a reunite in Palm Desert. I saw one game that year. That team impressed and caused guys to be on the 1959 team that went to the CIF finals. I saw all 12 games that year. That team made me and guys my age want to play at HHS too. It was a very thin but strong line and we now see how easy it was to follow then and how hard it is for the kids now. That was the gift Coach Hal Chauncey left at HHS. I spent a week end with him in Santa Barbra on the UCSB campus when they wanted him to run their program. That program would only last two more years because they didn't hire him that week end. Sure would have been a nice way to go through school. This should be a lot of fun.
Hey Gary, I'll be in Palm Desert for this one too, along with a few others. A truly gifted bunch, who gave a rare gift to a brand new high school; a Football Championship. There HAS to be a movie here, somewhere.

Message: JOHN, I WAS LOOKING AT THE VERY EARLY FEEDBACK PAGES AND ON PAGE 83 THERE'S A MESSAGE FROM YOU REGARDING BRIAN WILSON'S HOUSE. YOU MENTION THAT YOUR WIFE'S HOUSE IS THE ONE WITH THE BIG TREE. I LIVED AT 3752 W. 119TH STREET, 2 HOUSES EAST OF DOTY, FROM 6TH GRADE THRU HALF OF MY JUNIOR YEAR. MY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBORS WERE VICKI ('60 ) AND TERRY ('63? ) AMOTT AND ACROSS THE STREET LIVED A GIRL, (I CAN'T RECALL HER NAME) WHO FOR SOME REASON I THINK MARRIED ONE OF THE DYE BROTHERS.(NOT SURE, GETTING OLD). SOME OTHER KIDS ON THE BLOCK WERE DICK FOSSE, MARILOU AND MARGOT MANRIQUEZ AND OF COURSE THE WILSONS. BRIAN AND I PLAYED A LOT OF FOOTBALL AND BASEBALL AND MOWED A LOT OF LAWNS DURING THE SUMMERS I LIVED THERE. IF ANYBODY HAS ANY INFO ON ANY OF THE PEOPLE I MENTIONED PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND JOHN WHAT IS YOUR WIFE'S MAIDEN NAME? THANKS
Hey Dennis, Just looked up page 83 and that wasn't my wife. It was my good friend, Cheryl Christensen Nicocia HHS62, who is married to John Nicocia HHS58 and are now living in Oregon. That was their first house after getting married, about 64 or 65. David Dye HHS61 was married to Ricki Lowry HHS62. Maybe that's the one.
