Message: I noticed the spike in the contribution for the sports program. Is that number from people who contributed through Cougartown only. I am asking because we need to know if anyone or company has donated through the Sponsorship Packet I sent out. We need to get those people or companies a couple things for their support and I want to make sure that happens. I know Guy Hocker is contributing just don't know how much or if he did yet.
Hi Keith, The Rotary Club of Hawthorne, KT Long Development, Bally Total Fitness, and Century 21 are the ones that are on the list so far.

Message: I remember those Flicks candys...I had forgot all about them. You're right...they were awful....So I have to ask...After you bought them at Ralphs, did you eat them....and did they still taste like the good old days....A couple years ago at one of the dollar stores in Albq they were selling, Abba Zabbas, Looks and Cup of Gold candies. I didn't know they were still out there. I remember another candy called seven up or something with the word 7. It had 7 bites...each had different flavor. I think that was more of a 60s candy. Til next time....
Hi Jean, You know I just tasted these Flicks for the first time tonight, and they are very good. I think someone has changed the recipe from the Plaza Theatre days

After I have them good and frozen, I'll put them on dry ice. Are you sufficiently proud of me. As of today, there are over 100 people signed up for the SEPT 27th PICNIC IN THE EL SEGUNDO RECREATIONAL PARK. Only 16 more days and nights to go. If you want to sign up.. or just see who's signed up, then just go here or click on the the "Picnic Banner" up top. If you think you make the best Chili or Salsa, then add your name to the contests. Don't forget to bring your blanket and prepared picnic lunch. The rest is up to Sharon Leach. Where are you girl? Judy B.D.
Yes, please bring blankets, lawn chairs, etc. as we're definitely going to run low on places to sit. Thanks all for the sign ups. Only 3 more Saturdays and we are there.

Message: Hear ye hear ye - let it be known to all man, woman, child and dog that the Jensen boys will be attending the 4th annual HHS Cougartown picnic. Hey Judy - will there be any "nipples of Venus" at said event? We have been at the last 2 picnics and have had a wonderful time. Good choice on the park. Not too big and easy to find. You'll find us somewhere close to the "B" girls in the shade drinking cool-aid.
YES, "The B girls with the J boys". Sounds like a Hong Kong Porn Flick huh folks. Sorry it's not that kind of Picnic, but we sure do have fun We'll see you two crazy guys on the 27th and hope to see lots more Cougars there too. Signups have been real good this week.

Message: Hey JB, thanks to you and Kim Begley for the link to the Live Set concert with Brian Wilson. He has some good new songs and sounded great on the old songs. In my opinion, the band he has now sounds more like the Beach Boys than do the Mike Love Beach Boys. All for now. Have a fine COUGAR day!
Hey Max, I have said that all along. Brian is the original sound. Mike is the copy cat. Thanks much....

Message: Hey Cougars, Brian Wilson will be at The Dersert Arena in Primm tonight. I know Primm is kinda far, and gas is sorta steep. But we're talking Brian Wilson here-the dude behind Pet Sounds and Smile, not to mention a few dozen songs you might have heard, like "Surfin' USA," "California Girls" and "Be True to your School" by some band called The Beach Boys. If that's not worth a couple of $20s and a short drive, nothing is.
Thanks Michael...

Message: Wow John, you sure bring back some memories. I recall as a youngster I went to the Plaza to see the original House on Haunted Hill and when I was walking to my seat something got stuck to the bottom my shoe. Wanting to be sure I didn't step on some kind of rodent dropping, I pried it from my shoe and took a taste. Whew, lucky for me it was just, what I judged to be, a three or four month old Rollo. Well, being the sharp kid I was, I knew there was no expiration date on a Rollo, so I went for it (hey it was free). Well anyway, the caramel was still pretty tasty, but the chocolate, well, it was bitter and a bit grainy. So that was my worst chocolate experience at the Plaza. Is that the right answer?
Hey Chris, Speaking of things you ate as a kid, when I was about 5 years old, my friend, George Gates' sister had gotten married and George's dad made the wedding cake. Well, about a year later I found the dusty, dirty, "icing filled" wooden dowels that held up the cake tiers, behind their garage in a wood pile. Yes, it was a 5 year old's dream feast

Message: Flicks chocolates! Not very good, but they lasted forever. I think Flicks must have been part of a WWII GI's rations along with Spam, powdered milk & eggs, jerkey and other artificial food meant to last forever. On another note JB, what happened this past week to lift us up another $6K in the fundraising? Sounds like a Secret Santa made a nice drop-off to the cause. Keep up the giving and maybe we'll hit our target in another couple of months.
Hey Dean, Yep Flicks were kinda..... well, "flicky".
The way I see the donation discrepancy is, when the letter went out from the Principal, many donated directly to Hawthorne High, bypassing our donation form. The people on our list are the ones who donated through Cougartown. It doesn't matter as long as the Athletic Program receives the money.
