Message: Regarding the benefit concert, besides Brian Wilson & Al Jardine, there are other successful groups and singers that are HHS alumni: Emitt Rhodes of the Merry Go Round (who I think still lives in Hawthorne), Chris Montez, and Jeff & Steve McDonald of Redd Kross. There's also a popular young band called Dios (Malos) that is from Hawthorne, though Im not sure if they went to HHS. Hawthorne IS the Liverpool of the USA!

Message: Amidst the chaos that is currently Cougarville, I sighted some fellow Cougars in the wilds of Oregon. The DeCuir Brothers had a get-together Sunday with all four bros in attendance. Rich (class of 63) Phil (65) Steve (67) and Dennis (71). Also Teresa (Rowden) DeCuir (67) Bill Young (66) and Mike Stover (64?) were present. A swell time was had by all as no fights broke out, but I did hear somebody curse. Shame on them.

Message: John, Sorry if I offended Keith and fellow Cougars. I meant to be funny. I am a Carpenter and in Humboldt County it's Construction Language. A person who makes a stupid mistake is told to quit smoking crack and start thinking. I think Bill Shultz Post for us to donate what we can small or large is very appropriate. Starting Now I will try to remember, and write in the Language as taught to me at H.H.S. Cougarally Yours, Henry Cooper

Message: Keith please don't stop what you are doing. please let me know when I can get the info you are trying to put together and I will go to the company I work for and see if we can get some help. We are in the inserting and mailing business and we are located everywhere. They also like to help and see their employees take interst in the areas that they live in. I don't live in Hawthorne anymore however the roots are still there. Thanks again Keith and John

Message: Okay I am hoping to have a Sponsorship Level sheet done and cover letter/press release by Friday. I will send it to John for approval cause I am really winging it since I don't know the full details. I am basically basing on what I have read here. No sports at HHS! So I will go from there. Once he approves it I am hoping he will post what I do so then others can read and print if they want. I will contact Clark this week. Clark if you read this call me sometime at 808-385-1793.
By the way we need a logo design for CougarFest. Then we should make some t-shirts. These can be sold and the money deposited. They should definitely say something like "I Support Cougar Sports" CougarFest 2008 something like that. Simple white shirts. This way people can support the cause like this. Thanks

Message: With the remarks that have been made either pro or con about Hawthorne by Keith and others, aren't you all missing the important things that Keith said? Regardless of how you feel about Hawthorne, Keith has some very good ideas that will help our high school's athletic program NOW. Put all the other cr... stuff aside and read what he's said about what can be done to do GOOD for the school ... and possibly the community as well, in the long run. Let's stick to the very important subject and forget about the incidental cr... stuff of what was said. What a way to knock the enthusiasm out of someone trying to help!! You go for it, Keith, and I hope lots of people will join in and help you with your ideas.

Message: I went back to Hawthorne last year to visit friends living over in the Ramona area (yeah, I know, it's not Rancho Holly Glen or Del Aire Estates) and I gotta tell you, I was pretty damn surprised. I think Hawthorne looks great! Reminds me of the neighborhood I grew up in and when someone asks where I grew up, I say "Hawthorne California, you know, home of the Beach Boys" and that usually turns into other questions, "Did you know them?", What were they like?".....I tell them I used to date their sister.

Message: I can't help but comment on the last few feedbacks from fellow Cougar's expressing their feelings re: comments made by Keith and Mr Cooper. ALthough I don't agree with Mr Cooper's comments about Keith and a crack pipe which wasn't necessary in conveying how he felt about Keith's " embarassment" about being truthful about where he came from. Both Keith and Mr Cooper have the right to express how they feel, I still hope and pray that although Hawthorne has changed unfortunatley, let's please hope that here in America one still has the right to express his or her opinions without being called names or being asked to be censored. Yes Keith anyone that has eyes can see that Hawthorne has sadly changed and in most places for the worse. Yes Holly Glen and Del Aire have been fortunate to remain the same but even though Hawthorne has declined I never in my wildest of dreams would deny or twist the truth about where I was raised no matter what has happened to the place I grew up in, went to school and more importantly called home. I'm proud to call Hawthorne my home and I'm not afraid to say it. Rational thinking people understand cities change through no fault of its past residents. To deny or be embarrassed where we were from, for a rather large part of our lives, is in my opinion sad. Yes its terribly disappointing and honestly sad to see how the visible look of Hawthorne has changed but I know alot of wonderful people who STILL LIVE IN HAWTHORNE and call it home. This country has become divided much too much lets hope fellow Cougars can convey why Hawthorne was always the best!!!!! Thank you.....

Message: Thanks Mr. Cooper for your advice. Luckily I do not live with blinders on like you so I see the "actual" world and just not what I want to see. If you took them off you might see Hawthorne has changed (and not for the better). So now hopefully you can help get it back to where it once was and even better. Take off the blinders and put down your corn cob pipe and help.

Message: A Reply To Keith Jones, Holly Glen was and still is a nice neighborhood. But all of Hawthorne had and still has indoor plumbing. I am proud to call myself a Hawthornian. Too bad about you. Maybe you should give up the crack pipe for awhile and re-align during Winter Solstice. Just a thought. Henry Cooper Class of 66

Message: JB, no I didn?t get any dinner. But for past favors received, a hug, and a wonderful glass of ice tea it was more than enough reimbursement for me. I also wanted to mention that the Cougar sports aide really seems to be taking off. I want to thank everyone who is getting and will be getting involved. If this comes together as it seems it might, it certainly will be proof that the Cougar Spirit is alive and well.
