Message: Hey John, I haven't logged on to feedback in long time. (5 months or better.) I was just catching up on all the HHS sightings, etc. After reading many pages I see this message from some old guy named Ray Castillo posted back on May 10th, 2008. Something about marrying another HHS grad. And having a GREAT son who got recruited (without even trying out!) to play for Northridge's baseball team. DIV 1 "That's you Patick". "Not to mention a Honor Student!! Just for playing summer ball. "Not Bad Ray!! Anyway I was thinking the only thing he left out was the person he has been married to forever, is my little sister Debbie. And I just have say we "love you both" !!. John and Judy Heine.

Message: Re: THE GAMES! I see that I've been called to attention to report on what's in store for the upcoming SEPT 27th PICNIC. I refuse to divulge everything all at once, so I'm only giving you two events that are in the works. Let me start off by saying that I have a WATER BALLOON TOSS in motion. After checking with some of the boys, here's the rules for that one. The gals from 20 to 30 years of age are to show up in a thin white tube top or T-shirt... the gals from 30 to 40 are to be in a dark colored beefy T-shirt... the gals from 40 to 60 can wear a dark colored sweat shirt and from 60 up, the boys request that you wear a button down car coat. I don't get it! I've also arranged for another KISSIN' DAN DYE & DICK SLAWSON KISSING BOOTH. A buck a kiss. The girls will get a chance to have now, what they didn't get in high school. So Dan & Dick, start softening up those lips. I'll be back with the next set of games in a couple of days. For some strange reason, the boys are dictating to me a lot about them.. I still don't get it ( much ) I now have to figure out what to do with cream pies, bananas and watermelon. Sign up now so you don't miss out. JudyWudy

Come on Cougars, plan a day out - bring your chairs, ice chests, HHS stories, memorabilia (I just bought that 1977 Ramona School cookbook on Ebay and am bringing it - whose family names are in there??). Sister Sharon and I will bring tee shirts and memberships and goodies so you can buy on site. It'll be a great day. Hey Anita, pick up Jerry Miles, John and Noreen Crotty and come on down!

Message: I've been down for a few weeks recovering from surgery, again. It has been wonderful reading about Hawthorne in the early days. Greeeaaatarticle. I think CT is helping me to recover faster. Anyway, I'm here to promote the COUGARTOWN PICNIC, that place to be on September 27th is at the COUGARTOWN PICNIC AND CHILI/SALSA COOK-OFF. To go, all you have to do is go to the top of this page and click on the COUGARTOWN PICNIC banner. Bring on your best chili or salsa or both and win a $25 gift certificate in each category for the best tasting home brewed concoction. That means if you are the best at both you could walk away with a total of $50 to Chili's Restaurants. Of course, the competition is going to be fierce. I have decided to bring my own concoction. Although I will excuse myself from the competition, because mine will be the best and I want to give others a chance to win the competition. Bring your fire extinguishers. It's going to be a hot day at El Segundo Park. We may have to call the paramedics to cool down some of those scorching taste buds. AGAIN, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2008, COUGARTOWN PICNIC. If you are not there you are square. See you then. BRING IT ON!!!!!

Message: Steve Ohren taught me how to be a catcher back when I was 8 years old. He had a brother Mike who I think was in politics or something. I used to see billboards with his name on it and picture. Sorry to hear about what happened. It is really a mind-opening experience when I hear people I know die. Especially unexpected. My friend in Hawaii I just found out died last week. He was only around 40. He owned a limo service and was a very strong and muscular guy. Had a really nice Harley and Hummer. He bought one of those japanese bikes that are really fast and lost control on a road going to the volcanoes going really fast and died. I hate to see people go that are so young and healthy.

Message: Spoke to my brother a few hours ago, he had been in contact with Cindy Padgett who informed him that Steve Ohren passed away this week. It was in the LA Times today. Not a lot of info. I am in shock and saddened, he was a nice guy and quite an entrepeneur. I remember in our 5th grade class @ Peter Burnett doing the play "The Wizard of Oz" and Steve being the wizard...just one of those things that popped into my mind. RIP, Steve.

Message: I was reading back a couple of pages and Keith Jones said the kids in Holly Glen were the coolest. That can be debated forever. I didn't live in Holly Glen, as many others didn't, but I have heard that kids from that area thought different. Donna Cook, for instance, wanted to live in another area, only because she thought the kids were cooler in other areas. I only know that everyone that went to HHS was cool in my book. Whether you were a surfer, hodad, jock, lowrider, racer, book worm, etc. All HHS alumni were cool in their own way. I feel honored to have attended HHS, as I hope all alumni feel. Go "COUGARS", forever may we be brothers & sisters of the greatest high school anywhere!
