Message: Dear John, In response to your post and Keith's message our family also had one of those huge microwaves that he mentioned and it was not the safest thing during those early years as I heard stories of people drying their pets in them, obviously they have gotten smaller and safer in the years and people more educated about using them and one thing that I remember alot families getting was the 8 track player in the 70's as people thought they were the coolest now as I look back that was a big tape that you had to put in the player (ridiculous) Also, Is that a new picture of Keith after those Testosterone shots?
Thanks Steve, and by the way, it's STILL not recommended you dry your Toy Poodle in a microwave.

Message: A huge THANK YOU to all Cougars who watched and voted for Denver and the Mile High guys on the Next Great American Band show. The boys came in third (we want a recount!) and are deeply grateful to everyone who supported them in thought, deed and prayer. If you'd like to see them in person, they are performing this Monday, January 14, at 7 pm, at Loma Linda University Church, 11125 Campus St, Loma Linda. Free entry; first come first served seating I guess (never been there myself.) The Bierman/Branigans will be there and we hope to see some CTers there too! Happy New Year John, once again we owe you a huge debt of gratitude for this miracle of technology we call Cougartown. We love you!!!
Thanks Slats....

Message: Hey Ray, since you don't have email, I'll post this via C-Town. Ryan Sullivan (not sure if he was in your exact grade or not) has been up in Salem, OR for over 10 years. I don't think he's online much, but I told him about Cougartown. If you're wondering about his brothers, most of them are in AZ.

Message: Technology is great, but it seems I spend half my life on the phone with tech support which would be ok except for the accents. My ipod holds 20,000 songs or 200 hrs of video, I only have 1080 songs on it but it takes 2 days 9 hrs.11 mins. and 34 secs to hear them all. And I have them on a flash drive that is smaller than my thumb. And then try to put your own video on the ipod and the psp or go from ipod to ipod or ipod to computer, convert this, format that, I can send pictures from Digital camera to computer wirelessly, In the not too distant future look for wireless sex, where you don't have to plug anything in. I've had to hire someone to keep track of passwords and user names
Hey Gary, They have software for that too.....

Message: This may interest the late 50s and early 60s alumni: Maila Nurmi, famous for her portrayal of Vampira, has passed at age 86. Maila passed away peacefully in her sleep at home. Funeral arrangements are pending legal steps as Maila had no relatives. Her friends are trying to get her a spot at Hollywood Forever Cemetery and will likely plan some sort of hearse procession for her.****She was a little before my time (I've only seen her in "Plan 9 From Outer Space"), but some of you may have seen her on television back in the 1950s.

Message: Just thinking about technology, and how far we've come since the 50s and 60s. Then, we had a 78-45-and maybe 33 1/3 RPM record player. We'd all go to Melody Music, Rite Note, or maybe Wallach's Music City and buy 45s for about 90 cents a piece, and for that you received 2 songs, You'd play them, and take them to parties, making sure you wrote your name on them so you could get them back. Also, worrying that someone would drag the needle across them and they'd be forever scratched, which, of course they all became. Then when all the guys went overseas they bought Teac, Sony, and many other makes of Reel to Reel tape recorders (I still have mine). They were magic. You could record all your 45s and never worry about them being scratched again, but, at about 20 lbs, not very handy for parties. Anyway, getting to the present, Paco and Sharon in the spirit of Christmas, came by and brought me this MP3 player. I'm sure it's not top of the line but it was a very nice gift. I played around with it trying to load a song or two, and after a couple of hours, figured it out. I loaded about 7 CDs (over 100 songs) on it and haven't even scratched the surface in the storage dept. This thing must hold 700 or 800 songs. Now with all the file sharing websites in the world you could load this little 2 X 3 inch thing with every song you've EVER HEARD in your life. I've been listening to it since about 8pm. It's now going on midnight and haven't heard the same song twice. Good God, a single 45 has more plastic than this thing and it's got more storage than 20 Seeburg jukeboxes. Where can technology go from here? Maybe a brain implant where you just think of the song you want to hear and you hear it? Anyway Paco and Sharon, I want to thank you for this marvelous little gift. I remember Mom going to Sears and buying a Silvertone combination radio reel to reel record player, and I know it was probably 150 bucks in the late 50s. She talked the salesman into giving her 8 Hi Fidelity LPs to sweeten the deal (I still have those too). It weighed 100 lbs. The MP3 player weighs about 28 grams and runs on a AAA battery. Where are we heading? It's kinda scary, ya' know.

Message: Just paid my C-town dues, so I won't feel guilty on posting feedback now. I also won't feel guilty in promoting our 5th Annual Cougar golf classic. It is tenatively set for May 10th at Westridge in La Habra. Paco, leave on Sunday, would ya? So, make your plans to join us. More information to be posted later once we firm things up. Ladies, please consider playing with us. As much as I love hanging out with these fine Cougar men, I would be willing to share! Please watch for future posts and eventually the sign up. If anyone has any questions, please contact me.
Thanks Jill, and thanks very much for the dues.

The first issue will be investigating the possibility of moving the tournament up to April as so many have had to pass previously as it usually fell right on the Memorial Day cusp, hey Paco that means you brother !!! Anyhoo, I will post back after we meet and firm things up. Cheers.......Bud

Mr. P. ISN'T any older than we are, is he? We don't treat him that way. He does tell some pretty old jokes, though

Message: Jim Gibson, I loved your intelligent and highly interesting thoughts on Brian Wilson. Remember in our sophomore year how the Beach Boys gave a concert at HHS and our class wasn?t allowed to attend because the gym was too small since with the other classes, the freshman class would have burst the gym at its seams? Well, the big hearted Beach Boys wanted to make it up to us by performing at our reunion. The only problem was they performed at a younger class?s reunion by mistake, which would be easy to do with school years being listed as 1965-66 and 1966-67. The class behind us, my brother Herald Ritch?s class, reaped the benefits. How I wish that error could be rectified for the class of ?67! On another note, 2007 was terrible. Dad died and I had a car accident. Still, 2008 is starting off well with a trip to Cambodia, Thailand, and Viet Nam. Wish me luck. Toni Ritch
Good Luck, Yoni....

Message: Gary Bickers, boy did you bring back memories. I?ll never forget when Mr. Nelson came up to me as I was in my cap and gown to graduate. He told me he was thinking of not letting me graduate because I had missed more than two years out of the four. Gulp. I knew that I had missed a lot but I didn?t know it was THAT much. Anyway, he let me attend and take part in the graduation ceremony and in fact I never heard anymore about it. I have a feeling that I would probably have taken the prize for ?Most Days Missed?, not that that?s such a great honor. I was just too busy doing other things and even though I missed so many days, I still graduated in the top fifth of the class. I always marveled at people like John who never missed a single day. How did you do that, John? Why wouldn?t you even take a day off to go to the beach with some of our beautiful Hawthorne girls? Those of you in L.A., enjoy the snow-covered mountains. It looks so beautiful there! May the Cougar truant officer be kept away. Jim Peppers
Well Jim, I'm glad you asked. It's basically that I truly loved all my teachers and wanted to be with them from sun up to sun down
