Message: Cowabunga John and I LOVE YOU MAAAANNN but you know you couldn't get away without me sending in wishes of peace and boat drinks for your endless summer party here in the new year. The only question is, are we rocking these new years in with good vibrations as provided by the Beach Boys or by Barcaloungers? I look forward to another magnificent year of Cougartown and though I LOVE THOSE BIERMANS AND KONNIE TOO and they are more than enough to handle all by themselves, maybe this year I can persuade a couple more Cougarthornians to come up here and brave our inner city crib for a visit when the weather turns Billabongy again. I have big questions, such as---Will Country Rhodes have another golf tourney in 2008, and who will don the fabled scarlet-and-gold jacket this year? Will there be midnight runs to Pinks? (Although I must tell you after half a lifetime of living somewhat Pinks-adjacent, the best time for Pinks these days, man, is 10:30 a.m. Sunday mornings). Will Fosters H-town bear witness to any Continentals with suicide doors this year? It's YOUR highway, JOHN---we just drive it---and I LOVVE YOU MAAAANNNN for letting everyone ride along on this endless summer cruise!
Hey joseph, you are late, as New Years has already reared its juvenilistic (is that even a word) head and now become 8/366ths of its life. Of course that's only about 1/366th of a dogs life (or is that 64/366th of a dog's life? ......I'll call Mr. Plotkin in the morning) Anyway.... Where have you been since 1/1/08, Birch Avenue Dude??? Yeah, that's right, BIRCH AV. You and I climbed the same Peach tree, so don't get hottsy tottsy with me. Inner City, my dead Aunt Helen's bun-day-hoe (sorry, can't spell that in Mexican) If not for the The Greek Theatre and "Chicago" every summer.......... Anyway, I realize the inner-city has many temporary alliances for reasons of expediency, but you could have at least "blackberried"!!
I LOVE YOU MAAAANN!!!!
Thanks too, Joe, for adding your stuff to our stuff, tonight, and for upgrading your membership to Cougartown. It is an honor to have you here.....I hope you know that, my friend.

Message: Several of you have mentioned the new Stats program that is now on Cougartown. By the questions being asked it seems as some of you think JB went to Fry?s and just bought and ran a copy of the program ?Stats R Us?. This is not true at all. Although modesty prevents him from describing the process, John Baker worked on this page and its ability to automatically update itself from the raw data and his own programming. He spent many hours trying to make it as fair and accurate as possible. We all owe him much appreciation for this and the many other things he does on his own time for us. So even though it is not the annual drive time this might be a good occasion to remind everyone that you can really help by becoming a dues paying member in good standing. Watch your class rise in the ranks and maybe reach NUMBER ONE. So I?m personally asking all my fellow 66?ers to sign in, if you haven?t yet, and join, or get those Cougartown member dues current. We can do better than Fifth place!
Ahh Thank you Jerry, but I have to say that Jerry also helped with the Stats page. We called each other, back and forth, for about a month trying to get it right. So Jer', thank YOU for all your help AND for the shameless MEMBERSHIP plug. But Cougars, you can also raise your own "Class Bar" by adding yourself to the Cougartown Info System, which is absolutely FREE. Please help out your Reunion committees. It's very easy, no one will know, and you'll also be adding to the "Where Are They Now" part of the Stats page. Whatever your participation, please understand it is truly appreciated and KNOW you all are a part of our Cougartown family.

Hey Sharon, I got some new pics from Jerry Miles, so I redid your pic. I could color LOTS of the sixties girls in Marge Simpson colors

Message: Just read the Cougartown Stats page and I was impressed by how many people living in Oregon. Dang...I only know of 6 people living here (1 is not listed in CT). Small world I guess. Thanks John for this eye opener. It really surprised me how many Cougars live in OR (rated No.4 most on the stat list).
Lots of Cougars are still pretty close to CA, that's for sure... Thanks Raymond

Hey Carole, Yes we have Jim Peppers HHS61 in Greece but he's never added himself to the Cougartown Info System. The DB can only gather from what's there, so if you aren't on the list go here.

Hey Don, I'm using the Harry Plotkin statistic tool. If you want to find a percentage, you divide the small number by the big one.

Message: From time to time people email me asking things like how their particular class stands against the rest of Ctown in different categories, so now you'll know. We now have a Cougartown Stats page.
There's a real time graph that shows an overall look at the the classes with respect to population, Cougartown Info system (CIS) Support, and Member Support. The top set of tables pertain to your class with respect to the total population of Ctown. The bottom set of tables, with respect to your individual class population. Also, there's a table showing how many of our Cougs are in what part of the world. Hope this will answer a few of your questions, and thanks again for being a part of our Ctown family.

Message: Okay Wade, I see how it works, wait till my son graduates then decide to help out the baseball team - only kidding. My son was a member of the Varsity baseball team for 3 years and I know first hand that they need money. I myself have made a donation to the team every year. Last year another parent and I also ran a small snack stand at all the home games. The little money that was made at the snack stand was given to one of the JV coaches as a small token of his long hours spent with the team. And knowing Coach Hines, anything that is done in support of the team will be greatly appreciated. Let me know if you need anything from me.

Message: John & Cougars: It's been quite awhile since I have been over at Cougartown. The last couple of years have not been the greatest due to illness. I use to frequent Cougartown when I had Warriorville (West High School, Torrance). Was hospitalized in 2004 and it has been a rocky road since. I did want to say "Hello" and wish everyone a "Happy New Year." I missed the Kennedy Center honors and would have loved to have seen Brian Wilson. I'm bummed I missed it. My husband and son-in-law both attended Hawthorne High. Growing up in the South Bay was the "Best" - Wishing everyone a wonderful 2008! Kathy
Hey Kathy, Well thanks for dropping by and filling us in. I do hope 2008 will be a banner year for you and Tom. Thanks again.....

Message: Happy New Year to all Cougs. Great tribute to Brian Wilson. OK I know I'm late, but it is cold in Idaho...Sun Valley, Idaho and I'm finally thawing out!! Beautiful though up there and my youngest and I snow boarded with Gary Poltash and his family for 4 days. I saw the Golden Bears beat the Air Force and then watched usc win BIG. As long as the Pac 10 does well, I'm there. Nothing to say about OU. I think Callahan got in there and tied up Stoops! Hawthorne High Baseball Program needs help. I'm asking the alumni horsehiders to come to their aid this year financially. John, if I may, any alumni willing to help out can contact me at my email address and I'll supply the details. Thanks and continue to support CT too. My Best to all in 2008. Rock On John
Hey Wade, Thanks very much and good luck with the HHS baseballers. I'll see you at the Ctown Golf Tournament this year.

Message: Hello Cougars and a happy New Year to everyone. Well John, you?ve done it again. I finally found out about Achilles Kokkas, the foreign exchange student from Greece. Unfortunately, the news isn?t good as Achilles died in 1985. His wife Maureen wrote to me after finding out on Cougartown feedback that I was trying to locate him. Achilles had his Ph.D. from M.I.T. and surely made all of us at Hawthorne very proud to have known him. It is kind of strange to mourn someone more than twenty years after their death, but the news made me feel very sad indeed. I have received a nice long letter from Maureen and intend to correspond with her often. May 2008 be a great year for us all. Jim Peppers
Hey Jim, Glad you have the Achilles Kokkas thing resolved, anyway, and Happy New Year to you and your family too.

Message: HEY COUGS! HAPPY NEW YEAR! i come to read the feedback but havent said a peep for awhile--not much to say and i usually want to make you laugh. i havent changed from grade school when it was "sharing Time' i got up and was your not so funny stand up comic--but you laughed anyway--and i still have that same disease. i was reading about Dear Brian wilson--i did not know he was the last of the Beach Boys left--(Carl? no?) as for schitzophrenia--and i can spell that fast and right--only because i have the same diagnosis. i have come to look at life like this "ITS GOOD--ITS BAD --ITS UGLY.....BUT ITS REALLY ALL GOOD" and 2007 was filled with all three--iam still alive and kicking so i would say "IT WAS ALL GOOD "HERES A TOAST OF (NON-ALCOHOLIC) WINE TO THE NEW YEAR! AND TO ALL THE WONDERFUL COUG'S OUT THERE IN CYBER-SPACE. GOD WILL BLESS US ALLAMEN (Rev. Karina (my AKA) comes out of me now and then when she is least expected. expect it all to be good and it will turn out to be as you expected. that is my prediction for the new year. for specifics, write to me--i can do it, personal and worldwide prophecy--but keep in mind, i am certifiable...ha ha)
Hi Karen, Carl died in 1998 from Cancer and his Mother died about 3 months later. Happy New Year!!

Message: HAPPY BELATED NEW YEAR COUGS!!!!....I agree with the general concensus 2007 sucked in a lot of ways. Going to work one day and finding ones self out of a career the mortgage industry after 15 years resulting in being unemployed for over 6 months wasn't fun. Currently I am finding success in my new career at our local Nissan dealership in Huntington Beach, plus with the varied hours I get to still surf a lot. So 2008 is looking up already. With that said, I truly wish for all of my friends here on Cougartown a peaceful, loving, prosperous New Year in 2008!!!
Thanks Walter, Happy New Year and Surf On.....
