Message: The 66-67 reunion was great! I talked to so many people I was hoarse. If some of you Cougars haven't gone to a reunion, you are missing so much. It's just great to see everyone after all these years. We all have memories (and friends we would like to see again) from our years at HHS, and now is the time in our lives that we can take and reminisce with old friends. Just a little note to all the alumni, John Baker has been doing this web site for 10 years now. He has done it for the love of HHS. As I browsed through the list. I have noticed that many people who have registered have never paid any yearly dues. This is not mandatory but would help John keep the web site going. So if you haven't sent in your $10 dues please do so and it would be appreciated and goes to a great cause.

Message: Sounds like a good time was had by all at the 66/67 reunion this last weekend! Over 200 people, that is a lot! Our 77 reunion doesn't even have 100 people yet. Are we going to let these old people (no disrespect intended) show us younger people up? C'mon class of 77, the reunion is less than a month away and there is still room for you to attend. For those who are thinking about it, stop thinking and just do it! If money is the problem, talk to me. Email me or call me. Don't let a good time pass you by!

Message: How is my buddy Ray doing?? Miss you and I'm thinking of you daily...And yes I do remember the Hawthorne City pool too. My parents sent me there for swim lessons, started in the 2 ft. and then at the completion of all the lessons we had to jump from that high dive..that was it for me, I quit. I told my mom I couldn't do that, way too high..I think she agreed..But then I sent my Kasey Nicole to the same swim lessons when she was 3 years old, 1988. And she had no problem jumping from the high dive, guess I was just a scardie cat..yup, that is me..Some fun memories from the pool..I remember during summer vacation waiting in the lines to get in, paid like a quarter I think.. then afterwards stopping by the little liquor market on the corner of Inglewood Ave. and Broadway to get Ices and whatever we could feed ourselves, man that was the life!

Message: Many thanks to the reunion comittee for an effort well done on the 66-67 class reunion. All of your efforts and hard work culminated into one of the most memorable events that I will cherish. I also would like to thank the class of 67 for including our class of 66 with their reunion. It's times like these being able to get together with old friends that make our lives much more enjoyable. I look forward to the next one and least we forget the upcoming Cruise Night. Yes John this time I will be bringing my CD collection.

Message: Congratulations, John on this event! It's pretty impressive to see some "big names" out of the past. Schroeder, Shadrack, Linda Padilla, Skaff, Richards, Dickey and Gardner just to name a few. This was v i n t a g e cool! Any chance of someone identifying those in all the photos? Maybe Keith Jones and I will have to host the next one...here in the islands. With all the contacts Keith has on the Big Island, all we'd have to do is show up! Mahalo! Jim

Message: Just got back from the 66-67 reunion at the South End Racquet Club in Torrance. What a great turnout. Must have been 200 people there. Got to talk with Jim Schroeder, Chris Prewitt, Rick Zapf, Jerry Skaff, Sharon Moore, Walline Hohenthaner, Curt Pettlon, April Flick, Chuck Armstrong, Len Fein and a few others; and the Reunion Committee, Linda Dill, Paul Clark, Judy Zaccaglin, and Pat Duran Morrow. Also Wayne Dickey and Donna Cook were there from the Class of 69. I did feel the LOVE.
Too bad Monty and the Crystals (who were mostly there) couldn't have done a few songs. Thanks all for such a warm welcome too, and for the gifts. I really wasn't expecting that. The classes of 66 and 67 have such a great group of people and the Reunion Committee did a such great job of putting this one together and it turned out FANTASTIC!! When I left the place was ROCKIN'!! Sorry I had to leave but I went to the car to put my gifts away and the left rear tire on the ol' Durango was WAY low. I had to leave looking for a place to pump it up (not like the old days when there was a compressor on every corner). I finally got it pumped up and as you can see it's 10:40pm, so I decided you didn't need an old man hanging around anyway. Sloey, you missed a part of your life you'll never get back. Thanks again to all the reunion committee members for such a grand event. You should be very proud of this one. I LOVE YOU GUYS MAAAANN!!!

Message: First Girl, third row down with white collar is Linda Yonkers. She lived across the street from us and moved shortly after 8th grade. I don't think she went to HHS, but when they moved the Shelley's moved in and so Dennis joined all the rest of us on 127th Place. Dennis, I wish you were going to be there tomorrow night. We'll miss you. IF YOU ARE COMING tomorrow night, don't forget to bring your camera. You'll want to capture the moment. It is not too late to decide to come. I just received word from Jim Gibson that he is coming. Jerry Miles is not going to make it because he needs more time to recuperate. We will really miss you, Jerry! Hey, you guys that are going to Bart's golf tournament -- Just stretch that time away from home a little bit longer and come up Saturday night. See you there.

Message: John Crotty, you brought back a flood of memories of the Hawthorne Pool. Joanne DeBry and I would go everyday in the summer and I remember going in the evening was a special treat but I don't recall why? I remember the locker keys on the big safety pins and the bathing caps.... Oh my gosh, I remember hating them. I remember the pools just as you described..... and the diving stinging the top of your head. Thanks John, brought back nice memories.

Message: Cougar sighting! Today I met Jody Weller (Didn't get maiden name) who was class of '59. Jody works at a real estate office in Hawthorne and I was dropping off some documents on a deal I had with an agent there. Jody & I had a good time talking about HHS and how it has changed from the fifties. She confirmed that Dan Nelson was a vice principal back then and he was still there when I got to HHS in the 70s. Jody's son Robert Poorman (77) was a year behind me and will be here next month for his 30th reunion. You just never know where Cougars will be lurking!

Message: I've been reading most of the feedback here now for the past week. To those of you preparing to attend the 66'/67' reunion, I hope you have a great time and a great turnout. And for those of you still on the fence about whether to attend or not, do whatever it takes to make this event. Many people have put a lot of time and effort into this and Jerry Miles has prepared a memorable video for you all as well. Only one problem.....he won't be there to share in all the festivities due to a recurring lung infection that he has been battling the last 2-3 months. While it appears that he is doing better, his doctors still won't give him the okay to attend his reunion. Talk about disappointing.....so, if any of you are having second thoughts about attending this reunion - GET RID OF THEM AND GO! Forty and Forty-One years is definitely worth a celebration! And as JB often states - you'll never get this back. To Jim Gibson and Jim Schroeder and anyone else heading down the I-5 to this event, maybe on your way back you can spare an extra hour or two and stop in and pay Jerry a visit? That would be the best medicine he's had so far.....
