Message: Ah...the Felton Market...Laurie Burk and I use to take our "emptys" there and turn them into cash...we would buy Abbazaba's, Look bars, Big Hunks and Jujubees. And yes, more soda so we could come back for more...does anymore remember what the "10, 2 and 4" stood for on the Dr. Pepper bottle?

Message: Hello JB and all you fellow Cougars out there in Hay town. Following up on Jack story 2 or 3 years ago I was in Kona doing some fishing and it dawned on me Keith Jones and Doug Geller live right there in paradise. Doug was or is the owner of a well-known sports bar in Kona that I never found and Keith was the owner or GM of the local Gold?s Gym? So I decided to go sports hunting and find one of haytown's men in blue (HPD) and class mate '61 or the famous Keith Jones of Ctown? I was in the Safeway store standing in line and started talking to a couple local people asking about Geller?s sport bar they didn?t seem to no where it was located but they had heard the name Geller. Then I asked about Keith Jones well up jumped a friendly mail man standing there in line and said Wow you know Keith Jones? I said well kind of?I told him I was on a mission to take Keith?s picture for C?town and he cracked-up. Hey follow me he said. We drove about 5 minutes to Gold?s Gym. The mail guy ran inside and I was right behind him. The mailman was giggling running all over yelling for Keith to come out and get his picture taken. I think Keith slipped out the back door. I checked with the guy on the front desk and he said Keith had gone to the movies about and hour before we got there. I did get a picture of the Gym. I need to prove what I?m saying here is true. Just another true Keith Jones story and I did speak to Keith after I arrived back on the mainland some weeks later.

Message: The Felton Market was a great place to buy your beer, especialy if your under age. I was always fascinated be the numbers, tattooed on the cashier wrist. Don't know if he was the owner or a victim of the halocaust. But stiil a great place to buy your beer. One of my favorite places to eat in Hawthorne was THE HOUSE OF RAYMONDS, don't know if it's still there.

Message: Hi Jennifer Salley. I lived on the north side of W. 120th Street between Felton and Inglewood ave. Alot of the houses on this side have been replaced with apartments. I took a drive past there a while back, and our old house was still there. It's sitting in between two tall apartment buildings. Wow, it's great to see it still standing and being lived in. I use to go to the Felton Market. I also went to the barber shop that was next to it. I don't know if you ever went inside it, but this barber shop was interesting because it had all these paintings on the wall. I think they were those old fashioned Norman Rockwell paintings.I also used to pick up bottles and return them for money. I remember it was great to get a bigger bottle because it was worth more. Funny what you mentioned about the turtle at Eucalyptus Park. It did smell like pee underneath the turtle. But that didn't keep me from going under there, it was just too much fun!!

Message: I for one, like Keith Jones? stories, so enough of the ?Keith Bashing?. With arms and chest like he has, I would never call him a liar. He was even bit by a Brown Recluse Spider and the Doctors wanted to remove his leg. He said no and he fought it till he recovered, which took him about a year or so. To me that?s a true Cougar and I went to Lawndale High. JB?s right lets get back to Hawthorne Related stuff. But wait, Hey Keith tell us another story.

Message: Hello Cougars, Keith Jones according to the newspapers the doctor that was a slum lord was Dr. Milton Avol. The Dr that was the orthopedic surgon was Dr Higginbothan and he was a tall thin black man. I was a X-ray tech for Hawthorne Community Hospital back then. Keith I was in Hawaii right after the earth quake. I ran into the Chief of police Paul was his first name ( I think), he said he knew you. Keith, he had some great stories about you, all good. My point is Keith if you dont tell us your stories someone else will.Take Care Everyone, Jack

Message: Thanks Pauline for that. Like I said to John and the others, I don't need to lie here. I live in HAwaii and have allot better things to do. ANother thing about Dr. Hogginbotham(?) is I think he was a slum-lord. I think I remember reading he was the landlord in LA who had really bad apartments he owned and went to court and was ordered to live in his apartments till he fixed them. Not sure about this but I think thats how I remember it. And my friend Kurt emailed me and told me my room at the hospital had allot of beds. I only remember one other guy in the room though. He also said the nurse wouldn't let anyone else in my room till someone left. kind of like at a nightclub. Okay enough about my leg. I think I proved my point to the naysayers.

Message: Like I said John I wasn't into her family tree. You and your OLD buddies love to find fault with my posts. So if I did put daughter it was a mistake. But like I said make the call and verify then you can come on here and say I typed the wrong thing but Keith did go out with her. But in my mind who really cares. I know I don't. But, if someone is going to come on here and try to make it look like I am lying then I am going to defend myself. It's that simple. EVerytime you guys talk about Vegas I want to put my two cents in but NO WAY in the world would you believe any of those. But, now if Enza remembers Joe then allot of those stories would be supported by her. I loved the John Wayne suite their. I heard they sold the Barbary Coast. And Michaels was the best restaurant in Vegas to eat at.

Message: Now didn't I say "be careful for what you wish for". Enza with your toes in the sand and those lovely Califorian breezes at your back, I would move back to South Bay in a Heartbeat. If I could only find that Elusive Cougarette that would share a spot on the Beach with me while we watch the Sun slowly set. OK! Enough with that. Now on to Vegas stories, I guess I could tell stories of my Vegas Nites here and How I Beat Vegas and Won! Its been some 25 years now. Most of The Players are gone now, along with many of the Casinos that were Mafia controlled that I went too. Now them would be some Stories to share.

To Lizzy and Mike McLaughlin - didn't one of the Estrada girls have an apartment on 132nd Street behind Green Farms? I can't remember her name but she had a very young son. Seems that's how I met you guys, wasn't it? Bob O Fletcher lived in the front apt too. Do you remember hanging out at our apt. listening to my sister's Bill Cosby records? I remember laughing a lot with you guys. Fun times living there, especially when Kathleen Peyton moved in. Take care Cougars!!!!

Message: Hey Michael, being a former Las Vegas Chick, I have some pretty wild stories of my own. I would LOVE to here some of yours. I bet we hung out at the same places back in the early 80's when I was dealing Blackjack at the Barbary Coast. Good thing I sowed all my wild oats when I was 25- God knows if I had to work in the casino's again and stand for 8hrs I would die! I can't party like I did then. 2 glasses of wine and I'm ready for bed. Yep, youth is a great thing, however, I made some poor choices, and I'm thankful I only stayed for 5 years and returned to the sunny beaches of SoCal, and got to see my many nieces/nephews grow up. Ocean breezes....can't live without 'em! Although, the desert beauty of the many Oasis and natural springs, not to mention Mt. Charleston which is less than an hour away where you could go snow skiing and the weather was always at least 40 degress cooler, was very delightful. I guess the most eye opening experience was the Lear Jets that would pick up our High Rollers aka 'Whales', which in turn would put down a Million at the cage, and ALWAYS land on my table and take out a marker for a 250K at a time, and ask for yellow $5,000 chips and play all 5 spots...yikes, makes my hands sweat just thinking about it. I learned some very good lessons while dealing. One was ALWAYS keep your composure no matter what color the chips are and you will prevail. I carry that with me today....stay cool during the heat of things and everything usually turns out just fine. :) So, come out and tell some of your wildest stories....especially you 'old farts' (I bet some of our teachers have stories of the wild/crazy kids that sat in their classrooms). But hey it's only a number... and I like to think I'm young at heart. :)

Message: Hey John & All: It was GREAT to see my good friend Mike McLaughlin dropping in, YO MIKE, How is the FIRE Fighting? Be safe out there. Hey Liz....back to your post, I remember THAT night very clearly, we were so bad. I was SO scared when we all blew that mailbox out of the wall, Angies hubby Joe came over to the party your Dad BIG LEO was having (side note everyone of our parents were called BIG P, Big Leo, Big Jim Currie, etc. hmmmmm) and Joe came in without the invite and started into your Dad, Big Jim Currie stepped in looking down on his bald spot and said" I think "you better leave." He did. Those BIG firecrackers we got from Big Leos place in Tijuana ALWAYS got us in trouble. The M100 in the sewer made people runout of their houses, remember THAT one MAC? Good times.....Cops just gave us a hard time, they were our friends....George MacNamara, Steve Sturgeon, etc. Talk to you soon all, God Bless.

Message: It was Roys niece Janice Orbinson not his daughter. Nice try though. I didn't get into their family tree. Just another person I proved wrong. You can call Gene Rotondo who owns Legends Bar & Grill in Belmont Shores and ask him. I think he knew her too. As I said, I can prove just about everything I say. Now I am liking this. And I take back my old fart remark. I just realized I am almost 50. I just don't act as old as you guys
