Message: Happy Holidays, everyone. I wanted to let you know that two new items of Beach Boys Historic Landmark merchandise are up for sale at our websites at http://stores.ebay.com/Beach-Boys-Historic-Landmark and at www.beachboyslandmark.org. One is a Beach Boys Historic Landmark Personal Brick that?s a true replica of the State of California Landmark plaque on the front of the monument in Hawthorne, California, mounted on brick that was actually made specially for the Landmark, for you to enjoy and proudly display at home (we had some extra brick left over, so decided to put together this item for the enjoyment of Landmark supporters). We also have for sale Beach Boys Historic Landmark Stickers featuring the Landmark logo that appears on the left pedestal of the monument. Also, our Brick Donation program is still underway, just like always. People who donate a brick through the end of April 2007 will have their brick inscriptions completed in May. If you want your name or message on the monument, please give us your donations soon, especially if you want a large brick on the very front where the State plaque and bronze records are; we have only five of those left. Remember that absolutely all merchandise sales and donations go to the benefit of the Landmark for its continued upkeep to make sure it stays a dignified monument to the one and only Beach Boys. Thank you, everyone, for your continued support of the Landmark. Harry Jarnagan
Thanks Harry, and thanks very much for the Beach Boys Monument, itself. Cougs, this is such a special gift to our community and such a special chance to have your own inscription added to this historical monument. Now is your chance.

Message: Back to high school football. Last Saturday night, 7200 plus watched the 4AAA Warren Lumberjacks and my Nashville Scrappers battle it out in their state finals at War (Razorback) Memorial Stadium. It was the greatest playoff game! The Scrappers defended their 2005 title 21-20 in double OT when Warren was stopped on the one foot line on a two point conversion attempt. Nashville's 28-0 and the seniors are 40-2 and undefeated in junior high. Great genes, coaching and community and school support for these student athletes! Last year, Nashville also had the best GPA in all sports, including the girls, in Arkansas. I know that things are different in small towns and there are fewer distractions, but ... Does HHS have a Booster Club meeting once a week a viewing games fields, etc. with the coaches? Our small town raises $10,000 plus just on a pre-season golf tournament. A Cougar Mom's Club? Local newspaper coverage? The Scrapper's motto this season was 14 All, All 41, which is from Tiki and Rondi Barber's book. Pep rallies, bonfires, the band, cheerleaders, pep squad, team managers are all important. But, hearing the one-sided Cougar scores, I'd like to know if Southern California - it used to be CIF - has a sportsmanship or mercy rule? Mercy rule eliminates embarrassment in all sports, but in football the clock runs when one team's ahead by 39 points. This also gives the leading coach an opportunity to give his bench terrific experience. I know a lot of small schools here have volunteer coaches as needed, especially when it's an alumni sharing his experience. No, this state doesn't have all the answers, but when everyone BELIEVES in their program, I know it's encouraging to the coaches and players. GO COUGARS!!!

Message: I'm very sad to hear about Tom. My prayers and condolences go out to his family. Tom was my best friend for 5 years of my life. He was an all round great guy! He was a gifted baseball player. He was drafted by the Oakland A's out of high school but he chose to go on to college at Pepperdine University. Tom had an awesome college baseball career and held many school records and even WAC records too, I think. His senior year I know he had the highest slugging percentage and other records. He was very disciplined, worked hard at being his best, and could do anything he set his mind to. He was also very smart. He got good grades in college and liked to read all the time. We spent lots of time at the library. He was kind and compassionate to others. I remember in college he helped tutor one of his teammates so the guy could pass a test and not get kicked off the team. I too had not been in contact with Tom for many years. I'm very glad that I did get to wish him a happy birthday last year, on his 50th birthday, thanks to finding his email address on Cougartown.com! I was able to tell him what an important part of my life he had been. I hope that this Christmas all you will take some time to tell the people in your life how important they are to you and how thankful you are to know them. You never know if you will have another chance to say it. I will miss you Tom.

We spent alot of time together in High School and we talked about getting together soon again. I have some great memories about us hanging out. I regret not speaking to him again before he passed. My respects to his family.

Message: Very sad to hear about Tom Reuggers passing. Every time I hear of another Cougar going to the great senior square in the sky I feel diminished somehow! Tom was a great Hawthorne athlete. In the spring of 1974 as track practice ended up on Halcap a few of us wandered over to the baseball field to see how the varsity game was going. It was a tie score, two outs in the 9th and Tom was up. As he headed for the plate one of his teammates said "Tom we gotta get to the dance!"(The backwards dance was that night). I heard Tom respond with" This one is over we're going to the dance NOW!" He stepped up to the plate and put the first pitch over the left field fence to win the game. The whole team ran to the locker room to get dressed and go get ready for the game.

Message: This is from the Good Morning America website. Give to Charity by Searching the Internet for Your Holiday Gifts. There is a search engine called Goodsearch.com that donates 50 percent of its revenue to charities and schools designated by its users. Basically, once you designate and verify the charitable organization that you would like to help, Goodsearch will donate about 1 cent for every search you make. A penny does not sound like a lot, but the site is all about numbers ? the more supporters you can find for your organization who are willing to use Goodsearch for their Internet searches, the more money you will raise. For example, if an organization can rally 500 people to use the search engine, and the users do five Web searches a day, the organization could raise more than $9,000 a year! Think of all the money that could be raised this holiday season while you and your friends and family are surfing the Web for gift ideas! Wishing all Cougars good searches!
Sounds great Debbie, thanks for the info....

Message: This AM on Good Morning America there was a piece regarding Google that may be of interest to those wanting to assist HHS financially. For each click on Google, they will donate one cent to your favorite school. Check it out - think of the THOUSANDS that could be raised!!! And, could someone relay this info to HHS' principal? Remember, once a Cougar - always a Cougar!!!
Hi Mary Ann, Need a little more information than that. Sounds great but there must be 15,000,000,000 clicks on Google a day. And how do they know they're HHS clicks? Maybe Chris Prewitt, Jerry Miles, or ?? can find the story. Thanks very much for the info.

I remember we were friends back then. I didn't see him much in high school and never saw him after graduation. How true the saying, "If I only knew then, what I know now - ". Roger, you will be remembered. This event has really made it clear how fragile life is and how we never know what is in store for us down the road. If you are interested in reading about the rescue attempts, here is the link to the newspaper in Bend, Oregon.
Thanks much, Chris....
