Dennis
Hey Dennis, Yes I did, and it was HHS62 Dan Keefer's kid who owned it. He must be chip off the old block as Dan was a pretty good car guy in high school. Thanks for being there, Dennis, and look forward to the next one myself.

Message: Guys, the 1000 Oaks lunch club was fun, indeed! Obviously, I don't get a chance to jump on the site as much as I'd like, but I was just telling my sister about our gathering, and saw the posts! John, great to meet you and your mom! One more thing: Ellis Twine...sorry I forgot to call you, my friend! Please email me your number again and I'll give you a buzz to chat about HHS B-ball! Peace!
Hey Jim, Great to meet you too. I'm getting acquainted with lots of 76ers through Sharon B. Thanks for being there and hope to see you again in August at Cruise Night 15.

Message: What a fun Cruise Night tonight at Fosters. The Hawthorne Cable Channel showed up to do interviews. Lots of fun cars. The weather held off for us although it did get a little nippy. Brian Tully HHS61 and Jerry Benson HHS62 just happened by without even knowing it was Cruise Night. Plus lots of fun people from across many classes. Rich and Mary Prodin Sloan and Pat Huffman were there along with Anita Harmon all the way from Fair Oaks, CA was the longest traveler. Our own Howard Paco Duran and Sharon Schleper Duran were there along with Dennis and Eileen Campbell. Dan Keefer HHS62 and his son brought their two classic rides. Hey, I could go on and on. We just had one heck of a fun night all the way around.
There are pictures and I'll add them probably tomorrow. Thanks to all for coming out, bringing your cars and just for wanting to get together with friends. Our Ctown Cougars are all a friendly crew and it's nice to get together like this twice a year for Cruise Night.

Message: Dennis...I remember the Tom and Jerry shows sooooo fondly...they were held on Conference Days at Eucalyptus Elementary and you could get in for a quarter. Candy, popcorn and kool-aid was only a dime...licorice sticks too. They had t-shirts with the characters on them....Tom Bergren joined them for awhile too if I remember correctly. Two of my fondest memories of Eucalyptus Elementary were those movies and the Strawberry Festival. We had a great PTA there....The Miller kids went there too so we had the city council, led by Joe Miller, and their support. It was a great school! Great memories Dennis....but I'll have to take a rain check on the malt...I can't make the cruise night. Sorry :(
Just a side note. I received a map of Hawthorne dated 1927 and Eucalyptus School was on that map. How old is that school?

Message: Hey Laura, You Win a Foster's Malt see there tonight, good job!
Tom Sr. is still doing some funny things these days, Tom printed some movie money one time 30 years ago next thing I know the FBI was knocking at all the nabob?s doors asking all kinds questions about Tom, they asked me if I ever saw any funny money. I told them he is a good guy and yes he made some $20 bills that had a picture Jerry Rigney class of '59 on them. Jerry was & still is Tom's best friend. Speaking of Jerry Rigney does anyone out there remember the Tom & Jerry Show? The boys use to show cartoons every Saturday morning at Eucalyptus elementary back in the day.
See you tonight Dennis AND, hopefully, Jerry.

Message: Ooh...Ooh...I can name all the Hoffarth's...Tom, Tony, Tammy, Timmy and Trina are the kids....Tom and Terri are the parents! If you really want to play Hoffarth Trivia then the real question is naming all the movies and TV shows that had "Hoffarth" pop up on them...Tom can fill in the gaps but his dad worked for a company that made props and now and again things would just "pop" up. Three that I remember right off the top of my head are the movie "Soapdish" that showed several Hoffarth senior pics in a big scene involving a yearbook, an episode of "Little House" that showed a can of Hoffarth Cayenne Pepper, and another show or movie that had someone reading a paper in which there was a headline "Hoffarths take world cruise".
Great stuff, Laura, thanks......

I don't know about Cruise Night -- I'm still worn out from that UCLA game last night. Anybody (besides me) going to Donald Fagen on Monday or David Gilmour on 4/20? And what's up with this "420" thing anyway?

Message: Hi everyone. A few days ago Larry Baglin (Mike) posted a message asking if anyone remembered his Uncle, Phil Jones of the class of 1967. I knew and grew up close to Phil so I sent him (Mike) a quick note. When he replied I found that Mike had lost touch with his Uncle in the last years and read of his passing on the Cougartown Tribute?s Page. If anyone has any information about Phil that you would like to share with Mike he would greatly appreciate anything you have to offer. Mike can be reached at golden517@earthlink.net. Thanks, Cougs.
Thanks Jer'...

Message: Thanks to all who've put up links to my columns in the LA Daily News. I've been to almost every part of the city, but finally made it back to the South Bay in the last few years, meaning there's a bit a commute to the Woodland Hills offices, but I get out enough to Staples Center and Dodger Stadium to make it worth while. The greatest part of the job lately is getting to know Vin Scully much better. Can't tell you how cool it is to have him know me on a first-name basis and have his number on my cellphone. Part of the perks of the job. Aside from the Friday sports media column they let me write, I'm also doing columns on Saturday and Sundays. You can find a link to all those current and recent past by going to www.dailynews.com/sports and scrolling down to my fat head. Thanks for all the support. I wouldn't be here without the inspiration and guidance of my first journalism teacher at HHS, Konnie Krislock, who I keep in regular contact with (she's currently on an around-the-world cruise on the Queen Elizabeth II and has been sending emails from every port), as well as our yearbook editor Rich Allen, who I even get the occasional chance to join him on the golf course.
Hey Tom, Thank you for the update and for being an upstanding Cougar role model. I'm sure Konnie is very proud of you, and a few others, who've gone through her journalism class at HHS. You are to be commended. Now, how about sending me Vinny's phone number.

Message: COUGAR SIGHTING! Though Baker man beat me to it, I had a great lunch out with John, Mom Baker, Mom Bierman, Sister Sharon and Jim Villanueva, whom I haven't seen in 32 years and honestly can't recall a specific instance or event together but must say, I am glad to know him now. Another new Cougar friend discovered - he lives just one town over and his kids are local so we'll be in touch. And Baker, as always, what fun you are. It was great to finally meet your momma, she was just as I'd imagined and I know where you get it from now. Hope to have many happy visits in the future. Whatcha doin' Saturday night?
Get WHAT from, my bad driving? Thanks again, Sue, for the help and the lunch.
Saturday night, I'll be at Fosters with you and the rest of the Cougartown Zanys having burgers and telling stories about good old HHS. Hope many of the locals can make it. We've got them coming from Bakersfield and as far north as Sacramento. Be there if you can.
