Message: Like I said, look at the date Mike graduated. I am learning there were a lot of changes that occurred between late-50s/early-60s and 1979. Evidently, much of what made it great for us in the 50s/60s had disappeared when Mike went to HHS and lived in Hawthorne. I am not going to get defensive or criticize the youngster because, like my mom used to say, ?you don?t know what the view was like through his window.? I am sure the view changed a lot from the early 60s to the late 70s. In the late 50s HHS was not always fun for me either and, like Cindy, I won?t get into that except to say there were some real jerks in that school but fortunately the good guys outnumbered the bad. Just reading through the Feedback posts would make a person who does not know think we are pretending it was all great and one big party. The readers need to understand that we tell the good memories in the Feedback. The not-so-good ones are personal between friends and are usually e-mailed. Mike, in looking at your address my guess is that you are in perhaps one of the most dangerous but rewarding jobs in the nation (and maybe lonely due to work schedule). I have a feeling that some of the things you picked up at HHS helped prepare you for that job, maybe not directly but as a small part of the foundation. Also in considering your age I suspect you recently have been taking personal assessments of your past and current accomplishments (as most of us guys have done at 40+) and are now "driving the red Corvette? into the future. Hopefully as time goes on you will be able to look back and remember the good memories, and the bad ones will fade as they have for many of us. Good luck and stay strong out there?. Baxter

Message: Mike, "Let friendships begUn, stay true to the end" That is what Cougartown is about. Friends I know and friends I haven't met. Read the lyrics to the great Eagles song "Get Over It" (www.seeklyrics.com) Once you understand what G.O.I is about, come back make new friends and enjoy what John Baker has put together.

Message: Mike you must be having a real tough time with life. You seem obsessed with logging into a site that obviously takes you to a time where you were miserable. If your past haunts you so much, move on. Geeze is the heat making everyone so crabby!! Hugs to all.....Jan
This is getting good.

Message: Gees Mike, it is time to grow up and get over it. I had a really crappy childhood (I won't go into it here) and I hated school. This website brings back what good memories I do have though. If you feel so bad about Hawthorne, maybe you shouldn't read feedback here. I for one am really happy that I can say that I am from a great town and I am proud of Hawthorne and this website.
I knew Mike would stir things up. Cindy, you forgot to sign up for the Picnic.

Message: That is quite unsettling John about August 20th. My Dads B-day and one of my best friends B-day, Bruce Johnson, were on that date. They are both gone! You only live once. Funny how time slips away. MAY THE COUGAR BE WITH YOU! Jake N Jude.
My Uncle was born on August 20th, so that makes it better.....of course he's gone too. Cruise Night has been changed to September 24th. Hey Mike, El Rojo had a great childhood too...

Message: I just want to clarify a couple of points. I am not a victim and didn't come here seeking symphathy. I just stated that I had a hard life in Hawthorne, didn't think it was that great of a school, and am glad to have survived it. I, like many of you, also have a few positive memories- you know- freinds I made and stuff like that. But overall, the experience at HHS was a mixed experience with more negative than positive. I don't cherish HHS or the town of Hawthorne- OK? I'm not putting you down if you do- I think this is a good website.
It's like they say- people look at the past like it was all one big party. Well, it wasn't. You can pretend it was all great, but it really wasn't.
Anyway- here's to the future- because that, and the present, are what is most important. Go ahead and pretend you all had happy childhoods if it makes living in the present any easier.
Maybe I'm missing a brain chromozone.

I had a GREAT childhood....

Anyway I've been running my own how do you like the beach boys. Where I work..One 23 year old I work with was extremely excited..she said when she was 4 (she thinks) her preschool teacher was always playing the Beach Boys..I play Pet Sounds from 5-6 every night...every customer sings along...I told a couple last night I went to school with them..Her eyes lit up like I had mentioned the Doors...So you unbelievers...The BeachBoys are extremely popular to this day...and if you mention you went to school with them, you can almost give an autograph...

Message: Looks like there is a lot happening on Cougartown. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the picnic. So far with Cougs and their guests, we have over 50 people. I'm sure lots more plan on signing up. As an aside, I had the pleasure of interviewing the fabulous Charlie Tuna today. I went to the studio in Burbank. He showed me the studio and I sat there with him and his producer Heather and Irma Blanko while he was on the air at K-BIG 104.3. It was great! I got a pretty good 10 or 15 minute interview with him afterwards. He really is a great guy. Really smart and very, very quick on the uptake. I guess that's why he has been in the business so long. He started in radio when he was a teenager, literally. He moved to California in 1967 where he worked at KHJ for many, many years. I'm sure most of you remember him. So, if you are wondering what happened to him, he's doing really well at K-BIG 104.3. He's the morning guy from 6 to 10 a.m.
Thanks Sharon, The last time I saw Charlie Tuna was on a Star Kist commercial. I always thought he was just a cartoon.

Message: Hi all. It's been a long time since I've been on Feedback though I have finally caught up on reading it. It's almost as long as "Gone With the Wind" or "David Copperfield." And, I might add, with the same quality. JB, you are due many compliments. My friends who know about Cougartown are incredulous of it's content.
I have finally moved to Tucson and I know now that I never want to move again. The move only equals the building of Noah's ark. I want to thank Cougars Paco Duran for his encouragement when I was trying to make up my mind, and Mary Fee for suggestions on trying to locate a mover.
Tucson is hot, but the skies are unbelievable. For an artist, it's a perfect setting. Our house is set in the Tucson mountains. If anybody is heading this way, let me know. We'll probably be unpacking until '07 but our home is comfortable anyway.

Thank you Ricki and glad you and Jim are where you want to be in life. The good thing about the Internet is you can be anywhere and check in once in a while, so to me, it's like you haven't even moved. Send us a picture of the place when you get settled and thanks for being in our Ctown family.

Since it was my Birthday the other party has to split there winnings with me. Seems logical to me. Also, I made these rules up on the way home. There set in concrete now.

Happy birthday Kathy, hope to see you at the CT picnic in September. You are right Pat, I had my doubts that many of us would make it to this old age. Why don't you and Maureen try to make it out for the picnic in September. I think we need to make this years picnic as great as the first one in 1999. JB why don't you start a list so we know who is signed up to come.

OK, Look Above.... I know some people might be waiting to sign up, but we need to know if you are possibly planning on going so we know how many CORVETTES to buy for door prizes. If you're thinking about it, please sign up soon.

Message: Hi Kathy, Happy Birthday back at you. Are you 21 or 22, I forget? Thank You John for your Birthday wishes also. It's much appreciated. You know there are a lot of people from HHS that thought I wouldn't make it to 21 or 22 let alone 62 (no wise cracks Marsha), myself included. But we all grow up eventually, It's not as much fun but more in tune with the normal flow. Maureen and I went out to Dinner tonight, we almost didn't go because my back is acting up, thanks Dennis Campbell (football tackling drills) but did and after Dinner we decided to play the Slot Machines (I don't have to ask Maureen very hard). Well, Maureen won over $200.00 and I hit a Royal Flush for $1,038.00. Once I win it stays in my pocket, unbelievable but true because I'm not much of a gambler. It turned out to be quite an evening. I'd like to wish all July Cougars a Happy Birthday...
WELL HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PAT!! I know Maureen split her 200 with you. Did you split yours with her??

I was talking to Coach Chauncey, and he said there was a guy in one of those classes who built a 2 masted Galleon for him out of a chunk of wood he had left over from a house they were building. He did it in Frank Graves' wood shop and did a wonderful job on it. The Coach says he's had numerous compliments on it over the years and would love to contact him, but having "Half-timers Disease", can't recall the guys name.
Does anyone remember this project and who the woodworking Cougar was? Thanks for helping.

Ya'all know I'm not shy, but I'm sensitive to (having run afoul of) JB's very sensible rules designed to keep this as Coug-related as possible. I will say that this Sacramento show is pretty amazing with Sac Bee coverage and it being hosted by Mark & Brian (who have never seen us in LA!) We've been told that 4000 tickets have been sold and they're expected several thousand more walkups. We also are playing in Petaluma at the Mystic the night before (yes, where American Graffiti was filmed!). So NorCal Cougs, come out for some great music if you get a chance -- and look for me, I'm the one laughing like a lunatic during Brain Damage/Eclipse.
Hey Dan, Congratulations and good luck with the shows.
