Message: Do you guys remember "Sports Night"? I think it was in the girls gym on tuesday nights. Now that was fun, playing basketball, dancing, and falling in love all in the same night. I also remember that everyone would meet at Frostys afterwards, oh shoot, we were to young to drive, lets get a cab and put 30 people in it and when we get to Frostys we all jump out and run like hell....
Yep, I remember Sports Night. Broke my pinky finger playing volleyball and never did get to Frostys that night.

Message: Hi everyone! I just wanted to write and let everyone know, who has asked about Clayton Williams that he is fine and loves to hear from students and colleagues from the past.
I would also like to announce that our art academy here at Mayfair High School in Lakewood California has just been told that our students have won six gold and six silver medals at the National Scholastic Art competition (State level). The golds will now compete nationally. I am particularly pleased because when I was a cougar, Hawthorne used to sweep this show and then sweep it nationally as well. I remember when Les Johnson created a piece that was too big and Clayton cut it in half. Well wouldn't you know it. Both halves won. He ended up with the national gold medal. Raymond Jonas and Victor Barratucci won them as well. We had many artists who won at the State level and then go national, of the eight years that we entered, Clayton's students won the gold nationally seven times. An incredible feat for the State, let alone a small high school. I've had many art teachers in my day, and he is gold. To quote R.L., thank God I'm a Cougar.
Great News Ricki. Sounds like Mr. Williams' teachings lives on in your students, through you.
Great story, and glad that good old HHS could help out.

I worked a banquet last night at The Mirage Casino, Paul Anka was the guest singer, he is fantastic and has a great brass band, if anyone has a chance to see him in concert I recommend it, Paul Anka performs songs he has written over the years including "My Way", he wrote for Sinatra. Message: Debbie Frank class of 1969 aka Gerri Frank ??
I didn't go to Hawthorne, but I did got to UCSB in the fall of 1969 where I met a girl named Gerri Frank. The way I recall it, she said she graduated from Hawthorne, class of 1969. I remembered it because I went to Redondo. I didn't find Geri Frank in the Cougar year book, but I did find a Debbie Frank. They might be the same person, or perhaps related. If you can shed any light on this for me, please email me. Many Thanks, Stephen

Hi Stephanie, I just added her to the list, and do know that lots of Cougs without email addresses want to be able to contact their friends too. Please have her go to the Student Info section and fill out the form. You do not have to be a member to do this. It's purely for reunion and get-together purposes only, and will not be given to anyone but your reunion committee members. It's tough to keep everyone together but we're doing our best. OH, and tell Sue I said hi, and to GET A COMPUTER.

Message: wow...talking about snakes and dogs reminds me of my dog "Daq". In my skateboarding days I would use him to pull me down the streets because he loves to run run run. And he was good tool to use to attract the girls from school too since I was kinda shy in my early days. I wonder if anyone knows my dalmaton on 116th street and Doty cuz he would get out at nights and be home by 5 am barking "Let me in". On a few times he was chased by the SPCA whom come knocking on my dog and giving me a ticket. He got caught only once. I often wonder home many pup's he fathered...lol.
Not giving away my age but when I was in Kindergarten at York school, dogs ran loose in Hawthorne. My dog, Tubby would walk us to school and meet us back at school about noon, and walk us home. Like your dog, I'm sure he scattered a few offspring along the way.

Keith and George were on a first name basis all right. Keith told Jorge, he threw the bench in the pool so he'd have a place to sit down and rest while swimming laps.

Message: The Rices were very close friends of ours and Mike was very good friend of mine. His snake was huge. His dog Siska was a huge problem cause he would literally bite everyone. At the little league field he bit at least 3 or four guys in the face as they were sitting down including ross Weineberger who was sitting right next to me when Siska bit him in the face and gave him about 20 stictches. His dogs were big, but one day they were walking down by Holy Glen Park and they were running free in the field and King (the neighborhood Wolf mix) at easily 180 lbs got loose and tore the hell out of all the dogs. It was a very loud fight. King was awesome

Mike and Tracy Rice had cool dogs too, they were trained to stop at every corner and not move until one of the Rices siblings said OK and give the dogs a sign, then the dogs would cross the street. I loved their dogs. But the poor poor live rats we fed the snake, I dont think I could do that today to them. It was cruel.

Message: Groundhog Day I lived it back around 1994 when I flew to LA 5 times in one month on Hawaiian Air and the inflight movie to LA was Groundhog Day. I knew how Bill Murray felt. And, what a bummer another 6 weeks of Winter here in Hawaii will kill me. Not having many clouds and being 85 degrees is killing me. How did you like the Pro Bowl. I suggest starting a magazine to everyone cause it gets you all kinds of neat stuff. Got Press Passes to the Pro Bowl which got us in the locker room and interviewed everyone. Plus got a helmet, wrist bands (that Jerry Rice wore during practice). Though the magazine will be available in Hawaii mostly, some are going to Japan and the Mainland. Look for it in gyms and health clubs, called HawaiiFit & Nutrition. We have over 200 locations (+ close to 300 doctors offices) in Hawaii going to carry it. We'll have a website up in about 6 weeks. I will keep you up to date. Also, August 9 is our show date this year for the Aloha Muscle Jam. If you plan to be in town tell me and I will get you tickets. Aloha

Mentioning Jeff Hakman brought back memories for me. Jeff's Dad, Harry and my Dad worked together at North American Aviation for years. Tool Designers at Dept 210. I missed seeing Jeff a couple of years ago when he was down in Costa Mesa, signing posters of himself. I believe he still lives in Hawaii and has a surf school in France. He has a book out called Mr. Sunset and I recall that producers bought the rights to it. (make into a movie) Jeff was a cutie and WOW did I have a crush on him.
