Message: Clayton Williams is in Orem, Utah. If anyone out there wants to call him, email me and I'll let you know how to get in touch. He's terrible on computers and about getting back to you on the phone, but he's usually home in the late evening. I usually call him between 10 and 11 PM and we talk for an hour. I am going to try and reach him this week. I'd like to tell him about the connection Robin gave my regarding Ray Jonas ('60). I'd like to also tell him about Alan, he'll love it. He's into politics as heavily as he was when we were in high school. However, he is now a Republican. He can discuss anything, talk about a renaissance man. Nice revision on the "feedback" page John.
God Bless his GOP soul. Thanks Ricki.....

Message: RE: Les Johnson--very talented artist from the class of 1962: I just discovered this web site and wanted to post this information re: Les Johnson. He passed away on Friday, November 29, 2002, in San Francisco, where he lived. I don't have many details, but if you would like to connect, or talk, or share your thoughts or memories, please do so here, or contact me at my email address on Yahoo. Looking forward to hearing from you........ Judy
Sad news indeed about Les Johnson. Always tough to lose a fellow Cougar, especially one from our class, since the 62 memoriam list is very long already. Thanks Judy, for letting his friends know.

Message: To Ricki Farrell: I would love to speak to your kids about the motion picture business, especially about my involvement in "To End All Wars" with Kiefer Sutherland. Time is tight right now but maybe as soon as I get this premiere behind me at the ArcLight Cinema in Hollywood and the week long engagement I'll have time. Email me Clayton's address and phone number if you can...I really was blessed by his teaching. I spoke at UCLA and a small high school and enjoy that everytime. Let me know when would be good. And tell your friends about "Wars". I have been in 50 screenings and after each one men can't talk and the women are all crying. Ask any coug whose seen it and they will tell you its true.

Go see it, Cougs. You won't be sorry.

Hi Gary, good to hear from you and thanks for letting us know about Gary Jr. I don't know where we'd all be without the quality US servicemen in that region of the planet. Thanks Gary Jr for all you and your buddies are doing and the cookies are on the way.

Hey Don, I remember the chicken place that was there before the Good Year store, but sorry, I don't remember the war surplus place that was there. I do remember the war surplus on Hawthorne BL just north of 120th. Great war stuff there and real cheap prices.

Message: You are way too kind Sharon and John. I wish that my talent was as brilliant as you seem to think and that I had a lot in storage. I've given many pieces away and sold a few. I'm currently working on a portrait of a friend who just passed away in September. It's for his wife.
I do owe any talent that I do have (in art or teaching) to Clayton Williams. He was a great teacher and mentor. I still seek his help when I have questions. My students will have a website soon and I'll let you all know.
Thanks again for the compliments, they warmed my heart.

You are welcome, Ricki and thanks for being a part of Cougartown. BTW, where is Mr. Williams today?

Message: Yesterday when I was driving to work in the ice and snow (slow going) I had time to do some thinking. This is often a dangerous thing, but this time I had an idea that I can actually remember today. Why not next Summer we designate a Saturday or Sunday as Cougartown T-Shirt Day. Everyone who is a CTowner will wear their Cougartown Shirt to what ever activity they are engaged in. Then we could all keep our eyes open and see how many other CTowners we can spot!
Great idea, Sharon. Let's make it a Saturday as lots of people can't wear them to work. How about Saturday, July 5th. That should fall right into the Independence Day weekend. Does that sound OK to everyone?

Message: Speaking of talent, Ricki Valencia Farrell has to be one of our MOST talented. She is waaaaay too humble about her abilities! I just wish she'd put some of her works up for sale. Maybe we can get her to auction some items off for charity? How 'bout it, Ricki? I'll bet you've got TONS of stuff sitting in storage. Time to share some of that beauty with the world!
Yes, Ricki is very shy about her abilities. She credits Mr. Clayton Williams, HHS Art director in Ricki's era, for much of her ability today. Ricki is an art teacher now, and I'm sure she has many proteges of her own.

Message: Keith Jones...I spent 16 months in Minot, ND back in the early 70's. They were by far the WORST 16 months of my life!! I don't think your ex knows what she's getting into. For one, they didn't like strangers there, it's a small town, and you have no idea what COLD means till you've lived in that frozen wasteland. Nothing to do in the winter either. Not much the rest of the year for that matter. We had to drive 90 miles to Bismark to do any decent shopping. I used to say it was "Hell frozen over". Not even any skiing because there are no mountains!!

Message: Happy Holidays everyone! Wow Alan. I'm very impressed. Just saw the trailer and other options on your company's movie. I wish that you had the time to come and speak to my academy students on the real work it takes to produce the work that you do. It's so important for them to understand the reality of research. Most of them are incredibly talented artists... but obviously it goes beyond that.
I am overwhelmed with "Cougar" pride when I think about the talent that our little school has accomplished in its alumni.

Hi Ricki, Isn't that the truth. We have such a wealth of talent in many different arenas. Most people think of the sports figures and musicians that have come from HHS, but there're many many other talented people that have emerged from Hawthorne High. Thank God we're all Cougars.

Message: Man, what a thanksgiving. Over here they can eat and eat and eat. First off it started at noon. Went to my Hanai families house. They went fishing in the morning to catch the days appetizers. Like fresh sashimi ands seared Ahi along with 5 lobsters they caught. We all ate that while wating for the turkey, ham (which they got earlier that day from a neighbor who had a whole pig they put into the pit and cooked during the night). I am the "official" yam maker so I brought about 10 lbs of those along with my custom peanut butter candies I make. What a day and night of eating. Had a great time and I hope everyone else did too. Alan, how can get that film to show here in Honolulu at the Sunset on The Beach that happens here on the weekends. About 2,000 go and they watch movies on a huge movie screen on the beach with all kinds of food and tables with candles setup on the beach during the sunset. It really is neat. Plus the majority of the people there are tourists and it looks like that film is excellent. Just asking. If possible I would like to get it done. By the way anyone in North Dakota. My ex just sold their house in Vegas and moving there. Bought a 35 acre place with a lake on it and barn and stuff. It is by Minot I think. My oldest has already moved here with me now and it looks like my youngest is moving here too cause she isn't going to like it there. Aloha
Sounds like you had a filling Thanksgiving, Keith. Send me some leftovers.

Thanks Sharon, I haven't baked up 3 dozen of my "toe busters" yet (if you drop one, you'll know what I mean), but will this week. If they can't eat them, maybe they can launch them at the Taliban.

"TO END ALL WARS" is a new and very powerful film being released by my company, GMT Pictures, and stars Kiefer Sutherland and Robert Carlyle.
Some of you saw a private screening at Sony Studios several months ago and it will soon be opening for an exclusive run for Academy Award and Golden Globe consideration at the ArcLight Cinemas, on Sunset Blvd., in Hollywood, west of Vine, for one week only, Friday, December 6th thru the 12th.
You can see the trailer at ToEndAllWars.com. It has already won "Best Picture" at the Heartland Film Festival in October and the VFW in Washington DC gave it its highest award for excellence. Hope you can make it, you'll be glad you did.

Great stuff Tom. I had forgotten all about those double necked guitars until now. Also Rose Maddox and Rose Lee Maphis weren't the same person.
