Kelly Currie and Judy Wudy:
Well, my sister's era's were the flip and bouffant's and beehive and teased era, but Kelly asked specifically what kind of doo did we all have....well, let's see...in my freshman year, a short shag that was to my shoulders, and from then on, it was a various variation of the Farrah Fawcett wings type of thing ( as my brother Mike used to call it, the Paul McCartney and Wings look...lol!). Now that I think of it, Mike just had the guy winged version of mine. And, hey, he even used to wear platform shoes! Remember when guys used to do that in the 70's? No big deal for women, but guys did, too. I used to think that was so funny! = )

Message: I've been a little busy with the big party for sister Vicky. Ruth Kara, I'm so sorry you weren't in town for this one. There were 135 people, a band and a great caterer who bar-b-qued the yummiest chicken and tri-tip. The musicians really blew the house down. It was so much work for everyone involved but well worth it. Karen Orenberger class of '64 made it....Karen? Are you here? I love you. Thank you so much for coming. Dr. Vicky was thrilled to see you and so were all the sisters. I danced my ass off but it came back the next day, bummer. On a sad note...
A dear friend of mine passed away last week. You guys probably remember her from the TV show "Petticoat Junction" Merideth MacRae. She was a beautiful, sweet, and generous woman. I will miss her very much. Say a prayer, will ya?
And to all you Cougs who've asked about me, I'm still here, and thanks for asking. I'll be at Fosters for Cruise Night without my lowrider hair-do. Back then I wore a fall and a cascade at the same time. BIG HAIR. False eyelashes too. My Gawd, I hope nobody has pics of that scene. I cruised with the Artie Verduzco's car club. What was the name of that club? Gotta go. See ya soon! The Goddess

Message: I'm taking my life in my hands entering this feedback.. I wrote the King this morning and told him that I'd give permission for him to put in another one of those butt ugly-no makeup-hair in a knot-in Maui pics if it would spice up CT a little. (my new husband loves seeing those pics on the internet so that his family, that I've never met, can see how lucky he is) Oiy~~ Seems like a lot of the regulars are on vacation..or just not aware that "CRUISE NIGHT" is coming up..It's been a great year King John.. and this time I don't have to starch & iron my bra into a point..as the girls stand at attention by themselves since the surgery. Hey ROWDY Kelly Currie..I was a hairdresser for 20 years..so here's some doo names: pageboy fluff - flip - french twist & pettishue curls with little spiral pearls and sequins - beehive (with bees) the brush up - buns - ponytails - cascades - Italian tops - pixie - batman bangs (with a point between the eyes) - v or w necklines - *duck's ass - *flat top - *jelly roll -*mohawk - *all held together with pink or blue butch wax in a jar crew cut - gypsy - bubble - sassoon cuts - the wedge - oh ya..all you early 60's gals will remember going for the side wing with glitter sprinkled down the middle for the proms.. and we gals held it all together at night with toilet paper rolled around our heads..and scotch tape on our bangs. (boy did we ever look like a horses ass) There.. I feel better. I was getting CT withdrawals. whew!! OK Marsha Russell Hood & Maureen Manning Desmore, you both went to beauty school..your turn~~~~ To my bud, Linda Christian..glad to hear the wedding was a success..now back to "normal" life.. congrats. I hear Janny in the kitchen telling me that dinner is ready..(told you all I knew what I was doing) so I'm outta here. Cornish game hens and asparagus tonight.. Ah, it's good to be ROWDY QUEEN!

Message: Hello all,
Just thought to look through the feedback and see what I missed the last few days. Our daughter Deana Rynell married Jeffery Cox on Saturday night in what can only be described as a fairy tale wedding. Hawthorne High School was well represented as many of our friends and family flew to KC to "prop" Steve and I up. Here is a list of attendees: Debbie Christian Beahm and Family ('68), Paula Christian Dunn and Steven Dunn & Family (72), Betty Zywiciel Schodt and husband Ron, ('64) Linda Dawson Dietrich ('69) Leonard Dietrich LHS ('62). Raymond Dawson and Family ('75). Plus greatest of all, my parents were able to join us even though their health hasn't been good.
Also wanted to comment on Myrna Bell's Aunt's narrative. "Once upon a time," I spoke to an old neighbor who was a teen during WWII. She told of being home alone one evening, on York Avenue. She heard a low flying aircraft go over the house and then shots fired from the airport. Later she learned that a Japanese Zero aircraft had flown over the city! Now that sounds scary. Hope other Cougars can dig deeply and come up with more of this kind of history. It is fascinating. I always wanted to probe into Hawthorne's roots, but didn't know how to go about it. As far as I know, there is no Historical Society represented.
Regarding the '64 Hawthorne Intermediate pic, isn't the top left fella with the dark hair called Albert? I will have to dig up my old Intermediate annual.
Thanks for the great forum! Everything is always so much fun to read.
Where has Judy De Grazia Blomsterberg been the last couple of weeks? Miss her sense of humor.
Linda K,
Hi Linda and congrats to your daughter on her nuptials. Sounds like a very good Cougar turnout for that one.
I don't know about the Albert guy but maybe someone can confirm it.
Now, about our Rowdy Queen. I happen to know that she'll be chiming in tonight.
Say hi to Steve from all of us and thanks for the note.

I was wearing my HHS car show shirt at the time. The girl want`s to know when I graduated. Now John you have put up my pic. with cap & gown on two different feedback`s. I mean wouldn`t you think they would have recognized me from my pic. Geez it`s only been a little over 40 years? Oh well, I then realized I was talking to CT`s own famous Wayne Dickey & Donna Wright! Can you just imagine how excited I was, & me without my autograph book. We must have gone on about our past for a couple of hours. Fun kid`s I really enjoyed it! Wayne said he could take my plain dull old Chevy Nomad & make it even cooler than the 51 Merc. I had in highschool. I`ll get back to you on that Wayne! The last time I checked the alumni list for 1958 I think I saw 5 stars. Bummer! I think some of you closet Cougars need to jump in to this place John has created for us! Come on rev those engines & smoke those tires! Just do it!! To Suzie, was your brother the same Ronny Curtis that threw the almost unhittable fastball!! He was some kind of pitcher! Cruise Night 2000. Be there or be square! TB from AZ
Tom, DON'T LET WAYNE TOUCH THE NOMAD!!! See, I told you if you wear your Cougartown (Car Show) Tshirt, you'll get picked out of a crowd. See you all on Cruise Night.

I love animals too death, but get too personally involved. I would cry my eyes out and get totally depressed if an animal died or had to be put to sleep. So, you go girl! Someone has to have the guts to do the job and do it right! Besides, working on animals can't be too different from studying and working on humans in the medical field, can it? Dan: Who says I only like jazz or new age? Unlike you, I like a lot of different kinds of music, depends on my mood. I'm not stuck in any one mode. That's like saying I only like Chocolate ice cream, sometimes, I want butter pecan or vanilla, know what I mean? Just wanted to let some people in on some cool BB's is all. And anyways, Dan, music is an individual thing anyways, very subjective. To each their own...I like Pink Floyd, too, but prefer their stuff that hasn't been played to death on the radio God knows how many times into perpetuity! One can only take so much of that! Radio has made me so sick of a lot of bands I used to like...expand your horizons, Dan. And the WAVE...that is not representative of REAL jazz! Go listen to the Rippingtons or Spryo Gyra, the Yellowjackets, Larry Carlton, etc. Kenny G is not jazz!
Very good, but what does this have to do with HHS or Hawthorne?? I've been getting lots of email lately saying that the Feedback Page has turned into nothing but a "Chat Room". I'm starting to agree.

Message: Anita: Hi, I'm Dan Johnson. Although we were a year apart, I don't believe we ever met. Re: your comments on Craig Chaquico, music is inherently subjective. Some people prefer Slash over Guns & Roses, others prefer Phil Collins over Genesis, some people prefer Metallica with hair over Metallica without. I much prefer Craig with Jefferson Starship (I mean, Ride the Tiger? It doesn't get much better than that -- and he was what, 17 at that point?). Actually, I put on the "Wave" as background at work because it does not distract me the way music I'm really into does. I actually kinda like Ottmar Liebert. But I will always remain a headbanging, hard rocker at heart (after all our class voted Rush as favorite band). But I'm glad to see that you are as passionate about the music you like as I am about mine. While there we talk to Frank Lucio (67), and Thom Wilson (67). It was great talking about old times again. Sunday when Donna and I were at the Pomona Swap Meet, she tells me that she thought she saw some one wearing a Hawthorne Car show shirt. So we went back over and low and behold it was Tom Burrough (58). And boy did we have alot to talk about!!!!!!!!!! Tom can talk more in person then on feedback! And also for those of you who thought lowriding began in the 60's, Tom was probably the first lowrider in Hawthorne. If not he had a good looking Merc. So those of you who haven't purchased your Hawthorne shirts, do it now and be seen. Because you never know who you will see wearing one. That's what I call a Hawthorne weekend.
Great stuff Wayne. Tom, You never spoke of your low-riding days. Bob Fraser and I were talking about the old Hawthorne car clubs of the 50's and 60's. The Toucans, The Rituals, The Rod Benders, The Villagers, to name a few. Can anyone add to this list?
