Plaza Theater

Plaza Theater The Plaza Theater was not a "High School Hangout" but more or less the "Saturday Afternoon Baby Sitter" for mom and dad. You could go to the Plaza on Saturday and for 35 cents you saw 2 movies, 4 serials, and 35 cartoons. It was a great place for adolescents to spend their Saturdays, and a great way for mom and dad to get away from their kids for the day.
I believe this building could have been saved as a part of the history of Hawthorne.

Looking like a scene out of "The Last Picture Show, the Plaza sits proudly erect, waiting for the wrecking ball.
I remember standing in a line that wrapped the building almost twice to see
"Superman and the Mole Men".
